We recently enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Wye Valley Hotel. Despite arriving a little early, the staff were incredibly accommodating and checked us in without any hassle. Customer service is truly at the heart of this business, and we were warmly welcomed with a friendly smile. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. In the evening, we dined in the charming bar, where the food lived up to the glowing reviews—especially the much-praised fish and chips, which we can confirm were absolutely delicious! Breakfast in the restaurant was also excellent, with a high standard of food and plenty of options to suit all tastes. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful Wye Valley, making it an ideal base for walkers and sightseers. We had such a great experience that we will most definitely return in the near future!

The hotel is situated in a lovely spot just outside the village of Tintern. It’s next to the road but we experienced no traffic noise at all during the night. The beautiful Abbey is in easy walking distance and there are numerous walking trails which, sadly, I didn’t have time to experience. We had a nice welcome from the owners. Our room was very comfortable and absolutely spotless. We ate in the cosy bar for dinner and the legendary fish and chips did not disappoint! I would definitely return to stay here as I loved the area and there is lots to see. I don’t raise this as a fault but the only thing that some people may need to be aware of is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep which may be an issue for those with mobility problems. I don’t think there is a lift. Overall, we really enjoyed our very short stay so thank you, Barry and Sue and hope to see you again soon!

Stayed recently for a business trip, we were made so welcome by Barry and Sue the owners. Nice rooms kept spotlessly clean. Evening meals and breakfast are home cooked using great quality produce. Nice friendly bar serving good beer. Highly recommended if ever in the area!

Welcoming, clean, comfy well run family hotel. Ideal base for visiting family and experiencing the local area. Breakfast selection is good, with local ingredients adding to the quality. Sorry to say we only had one evening meal due to our itinerary. But it was worth the wait, especially the Ginger Torte. If that is the caliber of the desserts it’s worth the 2 hour drive just for them. Definitely a place to put on your visit list.

A lovely stay. We had 2 rooms, a twin and a double, that had a lovely lounge as well. We had been to the races, and booked taxis to and from. We had dinner here which was lovely, and a fabulous cooked breakfast. Very quaint village, really scenic.

Great place to stay, really friendly and helpful owners. Immaculately clean rooms. We had room 3 overlooking the front of the hotel Fabulous breakfast and great evening meals. Short walk around the river to Tintern village Great hotel in a great location Highly recommended

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. It is our second time here although we have tried three times before. Barry kindly recommended an alternative in Tintern on one of those occasions. Breakfast is filling with an excellent choice and we had an evening meal on one of the evenings (fish and chips, but extra special not like some places we have eaten at. Dessert for one of us but I couldn't manage anything else! Exceedingly clean room (no 4, no spiders once again, down to Taz)? I am already looking at returning in the near future. On a weekend away visited Tintern Abbey and found this lovely hotel that had a very cosy lounge bar , 2 lovely fires on and very welcoming. We had really good real ale and a fabulous ploughman’s lunch with 3 local cheeses and some delicious home cooked ham . Would definitely recommend and visit again . Thank you for your hospitality .

Lovely, comfortable traditional hotel with lots of charm and comfortable and relaxing bar and lounge areas. The owners made us feel comfortable and welcome. They even went out of their way to meet us early the next day on our hike to deliver the lunch sandwiches we had left behind at the hotel!
