Nice location close to Girivalam stretch. The rooms are well maintained and the staff are cordial. The pools are kids friendly. Mr. Mani, Mr. Karthick, Mr. Sanakya provided timely support and cordial services. The food was good quality with a yummy lunch.

I really wish Sterling would put a little love into this place. Overall the property is very tired and looks nothing like the photos they have online. No glorious fountain or lush gardens or gleaming white washed walls. Looks like it hasn't had an upgrade in years. There is no fountain, the grounds are not particularly attractive (brown, rather dying looking plants and grass) the pool is fine but definitely not as appealing as what they show in the photos. Instead the lounge chairs and towels are old. This is definitely what I would call a "resort" which is how they list it online. The rooms are small for the price. I had an outdoor patio but it looked out onto an unattractive field, so I never used it. Because the room is small the ac can be overpowering when you sleep but it is necessary because of the humidity. The bathroom is really small with no place on the sink to put anything. I had hot water in the shower maybe every other day. The staff tries to help but could use just a little training. There was no info about laundry service and they told me just to leave my dirty clothes on the floor. There was no ticket or anything to fill out. No one asks if you need help with your bags and there are no bellman on staff and when I asked for help, the person behind the desk, just did it himself. Housekeeping left cute little towel swans on my bed but failed to leave toilet paper and I had to ask for it a number of times. The hardest thing for me was the breakfast which is included in the price. If you like Indian food for breakfast, I think that portion was pretty good. I did try their Indian food for lunch and it was good. However, as a westerner, breakfast is the one time I am not ready for a heavy Indian meal. They do have a very minimal western breakfast that included very stale corn flakes and stale cocoa flakes. You have to ask for cold milk if you don't want to eat your cornflakes with hot milk. other than the cold cereal, occasionally maybe 2-3 times during an 8 night stay, they would have oatmeal but nothing to put in it. Bananas appeared occasionally but not everyday, There was usually a little fruit, typically, pineapple. After one of the other guests complained, they started offering muesli and yoghurt, but towards the end of my stay, that seemed to disappear again. Sometimes there was black coffee, sometimes not. The staff in the restaurant are very sweet and do try to help (especially the lovely woman, Raveena). But sometimes a request like for cold milk would take quite a long time to fulfill. I want to reiterate that the staff really does try to help. They are kind and generally friendly. I really feel much more critical about Sterling which is a fairly reputable chain in India. With just a few upgrades and attention this would be a lovely place to stay. They are charging as much as the Radisson Blu in Chennai, which is a huge upscale hotel near the airport, where i also stayed. The 2 experiences couldn't be more different.
