Hilton Garden Inn Topeka

A newer hotel with nicer amenities. Very clean and well maintained. Generous parking, pool, hot tub, several outdoor seating areas and nice restaurant/ lounge. The only negative would be the very young Latina girl working the front desk alone who was reluctant to say more than a couple of words at a time. Rooms were comfortable and beds were top notch.

Rene, the general manager, was extremely helpful when our scouting club of 30 people needed a night to stay after our bus broke down. The hotel was clean, quiet, and the staff was friendly. I already loved Hilton brand hotels, but this made me love them even more.

Stayed here for a night with family while traveling to midwest. I am really not sure why people have given negative reviews to this property. I accessed the bar and restaurant and got great service. The rooms were spacious and clean. Would love to come back and stay again in future.

Terrible experience. Just because you have an online paid non refundable room reservation doesn’t mean when you arrive in evening there is an empty room for you. Apparently there is a severe disconnect between the online reservation system and if the room actually exists when you arrive. Last night the people in front of me at check in line were having a thirty minute problem because their room didn’t exist. Finally after enough yelling their problem was resolved. I step forward and the check in employee gives me this smirk that he just gave my room away to those people. I was offered a single bed room instead for my family and if I didn’t want it I could leave. True story. I tried to get sheets and blankets for my teenage son to sleep on floor, we got three pillows but no go for the sheets and blanket. Today has been a great day with my teenager. There is no staff. Just a young kid frantically trying to work the phone with his ‘Manager’ who clearly didn’t care and was no help. The six people behind me on line were similarly pissed off. There are plenty of these near highway hotels. I recommend avoiding this one. Usually these Hilton Garden Inns are a slight step above and nicer. But not the Topeka site. They literally just don’t care and I’m really not expecting that much.

My daughter was to stay at this hotel for one night only to take the Kansas Bar Exam. Unfortunately that night my daughter, who is in a high risk pregnancy, started experiencing complications and was forced to stay in the hospital for a few days. I immediately called the hotel that very night and was told I would have to talk to the general manager- Farid Ellis. I spent the next 3 weeks getting the run around and told he was never in when I called. I emailed several times and finally got ahold of the corporate office. After filing a case the general manager reached out to corporate to state his decision was to still charge us for that night even with the series of events. I am a business owner and we of course have rules we follow but we always are human beings first, and Mr. Farid Ellis had no compassion for my pregnant daughter and her complications plus the stress of having to miss the bar exam. I will never nor will any of my family stay in a Hilton property because of this. Horrible customer service.

Absolutely horrible. The bed was the lumpiest, most uncomfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. Bathroom door is a sliding door that wouldn’t stay shut, leaving a 4 inch gap from the wall on one side and sliding open 5-6 inches on the other side-no lock. Bathtub drain was broken. We found trash on the floor. Lighting in the room was limited to a few lamps with low watt bulbs. Fridge wasn’t cooling. Furniture and decor was cheap and dated. Service was poor. I left a message for the manager, who also “bumped” our school’s room reservations for other schools that reserved more rooms, and have yet to hear back 5 days later. Our school’s entire team was left without rooms even though they made reservations MONTHS in advance and had confirmations. The hotel gave the school notice of their canceled rooms a few short hours before check-in. Parents wanting to stay in the same hotel with team were stuck in this dump while our kids were in another sketchy hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff was very friendly, helpful and fun. They made sure we were taken care of at each step of the way. The facility is very nice and affordable. The room was divided into rooms like a small apartment with a kitchen including silverware and dishes. Everything you need is there. I will definitely stay there again.

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This place is way overpriced for what you get. Complaints: - Bathrooms inside the room do not have a door that closes, only a barn door that slides and leaves a two-inch gap from the wall. The barn door in our room wouldn’t slide all the way across the doorway either, so three or four inches were just open/uncovered. You will be doing your business for everyone in the room. Absolutely awful. - $18 for breakfast; basic frozen food warmed up in a buffet. Unimpressive and should be free. Terrible coffee. - No luggage rack for your room. - Towels are rough like sand paper. Seriously. - Like others have said, these rooms are seriously lacking lighting. No overhead lighting and no vanity lighting in the bathroom. - Bathroom faucet loose and moved everytime we turned the water on. - Shower head was loose and wobbled anytime you touched it. - The beds are very, very firm. Like plywood. - The buttons on the TV remote were stuck down by goo. Don’t let the pictures fool you. Go somewhere else.

I was overcharged by this hotel and the staff refused to answer my emails and phone calls to resolve the issue. The bartender was unprofessional when I asked to order a beer before closing time. She had already done some cleaning and was upset that she had to pour another beer. The beer was delicious, though (Boulevard Bob's '87 Octoberfest, 5 starts for them).
