Waters Edge Hotel Torquay

This is a very average place to stay. Receptionist lady was welcoming and interested in sharing her knowledge of the locality. Price for a twin room was excellent, as was the sea view. The lawned garden overlooks the sea and is a nice place to sit. The room was small and had plenty of natural bright light. Basic facilities in the room, all okay. Soundproofing is poor and bed was uncomfortable. No food - this is okay, Torquay is a very pleasant stroll away and has a variety of food places. Parking is quite tight and one guest was blocked in for several hours on their morning of departure. For a place to get your head down, it's fine. Would not want to have an extended stay here.

We arrived at the hotel slightly early, but the room was ready. The lovely lady at reception was polite and friendly and checked us in early. The room was snug but very clean. Had all the amenities you would expect and a nice hot shower. The only thing I would suggest is to have floor towels for the shower. Very affordable and close to the beach, railway station and restaurants. The hotel also has free parking.

Amazing location, great views but super noisy, we had a shocking nights sleep. Not sure who or what is going on in the room above us but the creaky floors and thin ceilings make it so loud in our room. Still walking around at 2am and then back into it at 7am, not restful in the slightest. Other guests were yelling at them to stop the noise also, bit of a circus. Free parking and WiFi are good, but you need sleep on a holiday.

Lovely clean quiet hotel on Torquay seafront, friendly staff only thing missing was they didn’t do breakfast which is a shame because they room ,about 20 mins walk to town and amenities for food but as I was on my own didn’t want venture too far a night so a food option would have been great

Really clean, comfortable hotel on the sea front. Nice and quiet surroundings and very close to a beach, Torquay train station, Torre Abbey and the Riviera International Centre. It's about 20 min walk in to town or there are frequent buses in. The shower was nice and hot, bed comfy and warm, tea / coffee making facilities, and there was a lovely view from the room. The manager was easy to find, very helpful and friendly.

Stayed over Easter weekend. Arrived early Saturday evening having been lucky enough to get a last minute booking after our originally booked accommodation was too unpleasant to stay in. I’m so pleased it was as The Waters Edge was a much better choice all round! Right on the seafront, this huge, gorgeous building with its own lovely garden area is less than a minute from green space overlooking the ocean and access to the beach. 10-15 minute walk to main seafront area and town. Greeted by the owner, who seemed to be running the show mostly on his own and is doing a great job. Really friendly and helpful. Hotel seemed big a bright. Our sea view room was bright, clean and modern, lovely en-suite with big walk in shower. Only slight downside was the absence of food service, seems a shame with the space to facilitate a sea view restaurant in the hotel, but appreciate it comes with a lot of cost and complications. Would be great if this was on the cards in future. This did not blight our stay, the owner even lent us plates and cutlery when we ordered a late take away. Will definitely be back to stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a laid back, peaceful stay on the seafront. Very reasonably priced and really pleasant atmosphere
