We had Sunday lunch today as a group of five and from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. The service was exceptional – every member of staff went out of their way to look after us, with a genuine warmth and attentiveness that was so refreshing to experience. Nothing was too much trouble, and it truly felt like how good service should be. It was also such a nice touch that we didn’t have to ask for anything – water and sauces were already on the table, and everything was topped up before we even had to think about it. That kind of thoughtfulness really stood out. The three-course lunch was absolutely first class – beautifully cooked using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every dish was delicious and thoughtfully presented. We finished with coffee and mints out on the terrace, which was the perfect end to a lovely afternoon. Couldn’t praise the team enough – thank you for such a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Location, location, location! Spot on! Well done to the friendly staff a true reflection of the management style. Supporting a family owned local hotel seems much more rewarding than a big chain hotel where the heart of service can be lost. Thank you for a pleasant stay and the Bank Holiday Torquay fireworks display was a spectacular bonus.

Unfortunately this was probably the worst hotel ive stayed in. As a mum of a toddler who is 2 i can say the hotel isnt child friendly and its actually not clean or pleasant to stay at. Its smells, and there are flies in reception. The lift is old and not suitable for any pram or wheelchair, its hard to use and small. Its an old iron pull door one and tbh may aswell not be there. The staff watched me struggle to use this which didnt help. The room i was given was old run down and the carpet was full of hair so i had to be asked to move rooms. They are very basic, old windows and again not child friendly as the corners on the desk and bedside tables are very pointed. Just very run down. The corridors were dirty and looked like they need a good hoover. The breakfast was okay, thank goodness for the cereal and toast as the cooked breakfast was not up to much because you can taste that its all cheap. I also didn’t appreciate paying £450 for the stay then asked to pay for parking. Id expect for that price to be included. I dont usually give such a bad/honest review but i found the staff unwilling to help and one gentleman was extremely uppity, he acts like the hotel is the ritz! I did send a email out of respect to try to sort a resolution but they haven’t even responded. Which i find rude.

Stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding. Can’t fault the service at all, plenty of staff who were efficient, very friendly and worked seamlessly to ensure excellent service. The service at the wedding was also brilliant, all meals were delivered at the same time and the food delicious and plentiful. The room was clean and nicely decorated and furnished; no aircon but there was a fan and we had 2 windows looking over the sea and towards the town. There is an old fashioned lift which is quite small and the bathroom was rather ‘bijou’ but neither of these things can be changed so it is what it is. There is a large lounge and terrace with wonderful views.

Fine but service a tad slow and confusing. Our meals took 45 minutes to arrive but were tasty and arrived at the same time. There is no drinks menu (just ask for what you want, they'll probably have it) and as to puddings, just look at what's in the display cabinet (glass vitrine) and order from there. They shot themselves in the foot as we all declined. Most odd.

My wife and I held our diamond anniversary at the hotel. Charles Large and his staff looked after us royally.The quality of the carved buffet was excellent and the service was top notch.We hope to return for our Blue Samphire anniversary.

Our second visit this year to add to our 3 visits last year! We have also stayed here on 2 previous occasions so as you can guess we really like this hotel! The staff are the best, remembering us from our previous visits, and they are all friendly and efficient making every visit special. We like the old fashioned charm of this hotel and its position right on the shore. The views across the bay are amazing and if relaxation is what you want from a holiday, you could just spend all day sitting in the lounge or garden watching the passing boats. Its about a 20 minute walk into Torquay centre or there is a bus stop close by if you don't want to walk. Paignton can also be reached by a coastal path from here.

Just went for lunch. Sat in the relaxed sea view lounge area. The food menu was extensive and well priced and the food was excellent. Waited just a short time and the staff are extremely helpful, accommodating and friendly. So nice to see smiling faces on those serving you. We’ve been several times for afternoon tea here and those too are equally satisfying. I’d recommend this to anyone. Well done to the staff at the Livermead Cliff Hotel

I organised a group holiday for 33 people staying at this hotel for four nights. We loved the fabulous views from the hotel location. The breakfasts were very good and included quality sausages and bacon. The evening dinners were outstanding. The menu choices for three courses (planned for groups) were excellent. The food was very delicious and presented beautifully. Many of my group told me that the food was the best ever experienced on a group holiday. All the members of staff we met at the hotel were friendly, courteous and worked hard to serve us well. The bedrooms were okay if you had a Seaview but disappointing if you overlooked the car park. Overall, we had a fabulous time and the hotel contributed to a great touring holiday.

Excellent 90th birthday celebration for twelve in the Oceanic Restaurant for Sunday lunch. The location food and staff were wonderful at this lovely hotel which offers a calm atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Definitely will be revisiting.

We had our wedding day at the livermead cliff Saturday just gone. Me and my husband can honestly say we had the BEST DAY. We would recommend this venue to anyone who needed a venue for a function. Charles the hotel manager won us over from the first visit. He’s professional, but down to earth. He knows everything there is to know about weddings and how to run a successful event. He put our minds at ease, and without him we definitely couldn’t have pulled off such an amazing, and successful wedding day. He was there throughout the whole day making sure things went to plan and ran smoothly (meaning I didn’t have to worry at all). All the staff were so attentive, and worked so hard to give us the most perfect day. We couldn’t thank everyone enough. All our guests said how amazing the food was. We had a 3 course meal and it all came out very prompt and tasted delicious. Thank you everyone at the livermead cliff for making our day so special.

Lovely hotel, yes some of the rooms need updating, but they were clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly, the food in the dining room was excellent. Hot plates! Which often isn’t the case with some dining experiences. Good choices for both breakfast and evening. Overall, a lovely holiday!

Unfortunately standard room was not up to standard. Very tired looking. No valance on the bottom of the bed and showing divan with just a mattress. Carpet was shabby, lampshades old and tatty and even had holes. Dust around mirror and furniture and very old. Cobwebs on ceiling by window. Bathroom clean but very small. Shower curtain drapes in the bath and you end up stepping on a wet curtain. I feel no care has been taken and I have stayed in much better hotels for £129 a night. On the plus side the reception and bar staff were lovely and the food was good and there was a good selection of cooked and buffet breakfast. The location of being by the sea is lovely. I don't think I would return unless the rooms were upgraded.
