We stayed at the Shirley Hotel while visiting family in the area. Nick and Chen were very helpful and pleasant while we were there. Our room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The bed and pillows helped us get excellent sleep in the Devon fresh air. Breakfast was well presented and tasty, and thoroughly enjoyed.

The hotel is run down would say it’s ok for a cheap night or two away but could really do with re decorating throughout. Had a strange smell around the hallways wallpaper peeling off but painted over in very bright green. Personally would not stop again

Bad service constantly knocking on the door and was really rude and asked us to leave without anywhere to go. When we asked what we had done then just said it’s a hotel for the elderly and we made it clear from the start when we booked we was going to a festival. Made to feel really uncomfortable. And was quite rude.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at hotel. Super comfy bed and spotless room. Hosts were great, couldn’t do enough and lush breakfast. Hotel has character and charm and makes a change from standard hotels. Great location and parking facilities, would highly recommend and stay again.

Great alternative to the usual brand business hotels . Quiet , spotless and wonderful host . Breakfast cooked to order, rooms great plenty of USB points . Ideal for the business user who needs a break from Holiday Inn, Premier Inn and the like

2nd time, won't be the last... owners are fantastic, can't do enough for you, beds are comfy, flat screen tv, hairdryer, iron and ironing board available, fresh milk in the room, fridge that is quite, selection of tea, coffee and biscuits daily, bathroom was perfect and morden with a great large shower, towels are nice and Fluffy, breakfast was spot on, freshly cooked with a good option, tea and coffee, fruit, cereals toast and jams, 4 perfect night's and will definitely recommend this place, if however, you have difficulty with hills and steps you might struggle, but honestly it's worth it.... thank you for a great stay....

We stayed two nights in Room 4 the welcome was lovely and a bonus free parking The room was comfortable and warm and a lovely bed and nice to see fresh milk in the room . The Breakfast on both days was freshly made you order the night before the lady serving breakfast was helpful and could not do enough for you one word if you have walking difficulties this villa is on a steep hill and steep steps to get in due to it being a beautiful listed building there is not much they can do i would defiantly recommend and will return when in Torquay again .

Stayed at The Shirley Hotel for a couple of nights, lovely hosts and very welcoming. Room was lovely, very comfortable and very clean. Bathroom was perfect, lovely soft towels and again spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and again the hosts couldn’t do enough for you. Parked our car in the car park at the front of the hotel which was also brilliant because we didn’t have to move it during our stay.

We had the most amazing week with Nick and Chen. Room is perfect and bed so comfortable. Sea view and locaction perfect and a five minute walk into town to the beautiful harbour and pubs if wish. Breakfast wonderful and tasty every day and Chen and Nick so friendly always so helpful and nothing ever too much trouble. We will be returning most definitely to this wonderful hotel and beautiful owners xxx Devin is fab and Torquay our fave place. Thank you Nick and Chen xx love Jules and Michael
