The hotel is spotlessly clean with nice rooms however you are asked if you require a upgrade as soon has booking in, due to the fact that we required a room with a walk in shower (which is excellent) we opted for the upgrade at £5 per person per night we where allocated 2 rooms on the 2nd floor the rooms are great apart from the fact that we are above the dinning room and they start pushing trolleys about and making noise from 6.10 when we reported this to the reception they just said they knew that the rooms are above the dinning room but has it doesn’t open till 7 this shouldn’t happen not happy at all with this especially has on our 2nd night which was last night they where even shouting at 6.20. Avoid these rooms

This is the 2nd time we've been to the riviera hotel, we think this Hotel is great, and good value for money. The Entertainment was First class, Our newish room was excellent, spotless, and very comfortable. All Hotel staff, very professional, helpful, and friendly. The food was acceptable, we didn't go Hungary. We will certainly be back. Our room no 276.

Having read other TripAdvisor reviews before we booked I was pleasantly surprised at the overall hotel holiday that we had. We took the option of an upgraded room and were generally happy with it. The breakfast and dinner meals had a good variation and quality, with at least three options for the evening. We used the swimming pool and this was fine. Extra tea, coffee and milk was available at the reception if you wanted more. Entertainment on the evening was very good. At busy times the lift could take a while to arrive and if you were able it was better to use the stairs.

Excellent hotel , rooms are being renovated. Lovely rooms . I had a room with a courtyard. Perfect 👌. Tom the manager made sure everyone was happy. Nothing was too much trouble. Before our arrival I contacted the hotel putting in a request, my request was dealt with.

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Caledonian Coach Trip to Torquay. The hotel was very busy and undergoing building work which made it noisy during the day from 7am until 9pm. The location is perfect as only a short walk from Torquay Beach with a bus stop outside into town or Paignton. Also the town train drives past this hotel and stops here. We were offered a room upgrade for £10 per night but declined as it only had a walk-in shower and I need a bath with my health condition. Staff here were very friendly and welcoming,particularly the lovely Reception ladies and Tom who greeted us. The young dining staff however had bad attitudes and often made mistakes so need more training. Our room was at the back of the hotel up various small flights of stairs which did all have stairlifts if they worked. Our view was of the bins and building work. It was OK but in need of updating. The bed was comfortable and our room was serviced everyday. Plenty of tea and coffee were provided with soap and body wash and a hairdryer and standing fan. The food was nice. Breakfast was economy with hot buffet,cereals,porridge,toast and fruit with yoghurt. Dinner was a carvery,fish course or vegetarian option with soup and salad and a selection of cold desserts or a hot pudding with custard. Drinks were ridiculously expensive in the bar with soft drinks costing more than alcohol. A free quiz and BINGO costing £5 was on every night followed by entertainment with the funny Chris the DJ. The hotel does offer parking at £9 a day and there is a lovely pool for guests to use free of charge

We arrived early (2.30), check in is 3pm, we were told to come back as our room wasn't ready....fair enough! We went back to check in @3.15, room still wasn't ready. Got our keys at 3.50pm. Receptionist was unwelcoming, handed us our key and said your room is down there, pointing the direction. We found our room up and down various flights of stairs with our luggage. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. Handyman asked to come into our room just as we arrived, He needed to sort an issue with the shower, He was very polite, however with 3 women in one room and only an hour to spare to get ready to go out as we had things arranged, the handyman came back to our room 4 times to solve the issue, giving us little time to get ready. We thought breakfast was included in the price, but it wasn't. We felt it was overpriced. We weren't even shown where things were such as the restaurant or swimming pool. When we checked out the receptionist couldn't care less, usually you'd be asked if everything was OK, but no....very cold manner. I wouldn't return or recommend . Very Faulty Towers!!

Totally fantastic hotel with wonderful friendly staff & the food was fantastic with so much choice,the newly refurbished room was perfect with a lovely big shower,evening entertainment was good aswell with good drink prices at the bar,all in all a very enjoyable weeks stay & we are returning in december for a christmas break

All the reviews I’ve ust read are 100% accurate about this place. The owner clearly doesn't take criticism well and response with insults. We booked last minute as I had time off. So the booking was rushed. God I wished I read these reviews before I booked. A premier Inn would of been so much better. I will not waste anymore time on this hotel, staff and owner. You keep being you and wish you well! But to everyone else please listen to the reviews unless you want to waste your money.
