Booked a last minute break and have to say what a little gem this hotel is.
We were welcomed by the owners Steve & Wendy who the most friendly and down to earth people you would ever wish to meet.
Their attention to detail is second to none.
Complimentary home baked Bakewell tart, fresh milk if needed and an even honesty bar whereby you are trusted to serve your own drinks and settle upon departure.
Never came across this before at any hotel stay, just shows what genuine good people the owners are.
The hotel is immaculate, tastefully decorated and only a few moments stroll to the sea front.
We had the best nights sleep, mattress was extremely comfortable and bed linen was of high quality.
Lovely freshly cooked breakfast made to order with additional fresh continental offerings available.
This hotel failed to disappoint we can’t wait to visit again.

The warmest welcome from the wonderful hosts Wendy & Steve set the happy, relaxing vibe for our stay at their exceptional hotel. Beautiful room, comfy bed, spotlessly clean and great location. The home-made cake and breakfasts were delicious (superb menu by the way!). Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and much appreciated the knowledge of Torquay, places to visit and directions for coastal walks. Highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful Stay at The Berburry – Highly Recommended! The location is ideal—just a stone’s throw from the promenade, Torre Abbey, and even Padel courts for some active fun (along with a craft beer bar to restore balance!) The hotel was spotless and beautifully kept, and we lacked nothing during our stay (including a range of alcohol found in the self-serve bar, which was lovely!) Breakfast deserves a special mention—easily one of the best I’ve ever had. A big thank you to Wendy and Steve for their exceptional hospitality; they made us feel truly welcome and made our trip extra special. We’ll definitely be back!

We have just returned from our third stay at The Berburry, for a 4 night stay. As always we were warmly welcomed by hosts Wendy and Steve. Both hosts are so accommodating and nothing is too much to ask. I require a gluten free diet and I don’t miss out on any options at breakfast, both cooked and cereals available. Wendy and Steve are always at hand giving tips on local walks and things to do in the area. Each room we have stayed in has been of very high quality and we already can’t wait to come back in October!!

Very enjoyable stay. Nice to experience hospitality you don't get in the national chains. Forget the desert, come back and enjoy a piece of Wendy's cake!

I visit Torquay fairly regularly for work and I always stay at the Berburry. Wendy and Steve are fabulous hosts. When I spend the day looking after people at work, it is wonderful to be looked after myself! Wendy is a brilliant cook and we have the most amazing vegan breakfasts. The Berburry is perfectly situated, on the doorstep of Torre Abbey, near the beach and a short walk into town. The rooms are super clean and comfortable and the lovely bar is very welcome after a long day. I love staying here, it is my happy place :-)

Steve & Wendy were amazing hosts. They were very helpful, friendly & couldn't do enough for you. Hotel was gorgeous & the breakfasts were stunning. I would visit again in a heartbeat & would like to say a huge thank you to both of you. Hopefully see you again soon.

Just back from another fantastic break staying at The Berburry with a friend. Wendy and Steve really go out of their way to make your stay the best it possibly can be by recommending places to visit, where to eat out and just to relax and take in the atmosphere. The hotel itself is charming, the bedrooms beautifully decorated and the bed so comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a great range to choose from. We are definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Superb! A wonderful warm welcome on arrival. A great private car park. Immaculate throughout and first class breakfast. It was the best English breakfast I've ever had. The hosts Wendy and Steve could not have been more hel0ful with recommendations for where to eat and what to do during our stay. A 5 star experience, thank you!
