The Berburry

The warmest welcome from the wonderful hosts Wendy & Steve set the happy, relaxing vibe for our stay at their exceptional hotel. Beautiful room, comfy bed, spotlessly clean and great location. The home-made cake and breakfasts were delicious (superb menu by the way!). Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and much appreciated the knowledge of Torquay, places to visit and directions for coastal walks. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a very relaxing time at The Berburry. Steve and Wendy are very welcoming, and always chatted after breakfast to advise us of the best local places to visit. Our room was very comfortable, and the bar area was also a good spot to just sit and watch the world go by. The breakfast is something else - expertly prepared, cooked to your liking - and there was a range of fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, and cereals too. A fridge in the dining room was stocked with bottles of cold water and small jugs of fresh milk that you can take back to your room - a plate of delicious of homemade cake is also made available! All in all, we spent a lovely week at The Berburry, it felt like home from home, and it was a great place for us to unwind. Thanks to Steve, Wendy, Eric, and the staff.

Decided to go to Torquay quite last minute and booked the Berberry we are so pleased we did. From the moment we were welcomed on arrival by Wendy we knew we had made the right choice. Our room was lovely, exceptionally clean, with tea making facilities in the room. There is a fridge in the breakfast room with glass bottles of water and cold milk, and Wendy leaves cake out on the side to help yourself. There was so much choice for breakfast which you ordered the night before, but there is also cereal and glass pots of yoghurt and fruit puree and lovely very fresh fruit salad. Steve serves in the breakfast room, and is very friendly and Wendy cooks. The breakfast was amazing and you could tell everything was very good quality ingredients and plentyful After breakfast Wendy always took time to come in and chat to the guests. There's an honesty bar which is a nice touch. We would definately go back.

I stay at the Berburry every September (and at other times throughout the year when I visit Torquay) when I am working at the Agatha Christie Festival. Location wise, it is very close to Torre Abbey, where much of the Festival takes place, and also a short walk to the beach at Torre Sands and along the promenade to Torquay harbourside. It is an ideal place to base yourself. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable. Food wise, it is glorious! Wendy cooks the most amazing vegan breakfasts which are totally delicious and a highlight of my day! It truly is a home from home and we are welcomed as old friends when we visit. There are also little touches that make it special, such as the cakes Wendy bakes each day for guests to help themselves to, the fridge put in my room for my soya milk, the comfy bar where we can unwind after a long day. We are looked after very, very well here and I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

There is nothing negative to be said about the Berburry Hotel, The minute you arrive you are greeted with warm friendly hosts, Wendy and Steve, who make it their mission to ensure you enjoy your stay with them. Our room was fabulous, tastefully decorated, very spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean as was the large bathroom. There is plenty of choice at breakfast from fresh fruit to full English, no reason to go hungry. What makes the Berburry special are the extra touches Wendy and Steve provide, fresh milk, cold bottled water, home made cake, all complimentary. It is clearly obvious that Wendy and Steve care deeply about their hotel and their guests, if you're happy so are they. We absolutely loved our time there.

Stayed here for 2 nights & wished it was more.The hotel was faultless from the warm welcome to the farewell. Wendy & Steve are the perfect hosts. We stayed in a twin room which was immaculate with tasteful decor & comfortable beds. Breakfast was second to none & plentiful. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again & would recommend to anyone.
