Crofton House Hotel

Though not the worst welcome as we arrived, not inaccurate to say that the only truly clean thing in the room was the sheets. Curtains mouldy, broken window in room. Indoor pool seemed clean enough but cold. The jacuzzi that appeared on website photos was covered and switched off seemingly not in use for a while. Outdoor pool cold dirty and disused, with maintenance and garden equipment/plant left out. Rear exterior had damaged and cracked render. Sadly didn’t stay long enough to comment on service as we left within an hour but quite clearly rooms not maintained. No breakfast, or any restaurant/bar available. Really disappointed and for the most part this is down to things in their control such as maintenance and repair, cleaning etc. simple things it down. We didn’t pay the earth so was not expecting perfection but what we did get felt well short of what was advertised on website. Definitely not the star rating it is portrayed for sure. I hope these things can be picked up as this is intended as an honest review. Although when we did explain why we were leaving, the dismissive response that gestured towards “you paid cheap rates, you cannot expect 5 star” was not very encouraging. Hope these things get picked up as it is a well located building and has all the attributes to be a very nice hotel.

This property is appalling. Not even 1 star accommodation. The reviews and website promise much but it is a massive shock when you arrive. The building is run down to the point of dereliction in parts. It's is tired , filthy track marks in all carpets, ingrained dirt around door handles, dirty pools, hot tub not working and also looked unclean, sauna not working. You suddenly know what you are in for when the first thing they show you is how to lock and open the reception door! The reception area immediately tells you all you need to know, it's just abysmal. I cannot believe I was conned out of money for a suite which was anything but. Dirty curtains, a window with a wide crack repaired with sticky backed plastic. A king size bed which was 2 singled pushed together with 2 single mattresses. And if you looked beyond the white sheets (Which were the only thing clean) you would be shocked. We arrived gave it the benefit of the doubt but dirty cold pool visit later booked an alternative and left. There is cctv everywhere...which makes you question what kind of clientele this place is used to. When we went to check out Even though we did not want a refund as just wanted out of there tbh, the receptionist / manager argued with me that his hotel was clean and I should lower my expectations given what I paid! Total disregard for the customer experience, showing to me that either he has no idea about running a hotel and this is a hostel or he is a naturally hostile person. This hotel in my view is purposely seeking to mislead people, the pictures are obviously historic, the hotel seems to be more of a hostel. I cannot even begin to list the litany of woes with this place. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Booked here from the 18th April till 21st April x lovely experience manger of hotel very welcoming and could not do enough for us x room was lovely and clean just what you want with tea and coffee etc x most amazing part for the price you get to use the indoor pool and the sauna and steam room ❤️ will definitely be using this place to stay again thank you x

Very disappointed with our 3 night stay in this hotel. The owner clearly doesn’t make any effort to make this hotel attractive to guests. The unstaffed hotel makes to difficult to resolve problems 😤 There is 0% kerb appeal and the photos on the website are not recent

Amazing place, loved room and staff helpful .alway there when u need help and smile alwaynice pool inside and out hot tub been there 4 time alway go back there make you feel so welcome .ever room i had been tidy clean everything i want go downstairs nice area you can sit in so happy with the place

This is not what I had hoped and paid for. Run down, dusty and after 4 hours of driving when you just want to get to your room, their 'system" couldn't find the booking. The saga continues. When I booked the room it was with the understanding there would be breakfast...when I contacted them to ask the time for breakfast ; ' sorry we don't have breakfasts any more' but we will tell you a few places etc etc The hotel in Torquay is run from London, so I discovered to my horror that there is no hot water, there was no one I could turn to!!!!) When you pay a decen6 amount of money you expect better than this. Never again.
