Hotel Grand Toya

It's just 3 minutes walk from the bus station and 2 minutes walk to the sightseeing ferry pier. Shared bathroom and onsen, the outdoor hot spring was also free of charge. Room was clean and tidy. I like the Japanese style futon. Perfect view of the lake and the pier. Easy access to restaurants. Beside that, be mindful that before 10am you have to check out, we were just preparing to go down at that time, they knocked the door and barge inside start cleaning the room which shocked us.

The location is the best which just one minute walking distance to the bus terminal to/from Toya Station and in front of the ferry pier. Please see my photo. Perfect location. The front desk receptionist lady was friendly. I was placed to a lake view Japanese style room. It doesn't include shower but toilet in the room and it looks like old but I love the room. The view from the room's window to Lake Toya was excellent. I love my room's window can be opened, I could see more clear to the lake view and to have fresh air from outside by opening the window. Even it was a raining day, cloudy and frosty. The view is still spotless good. The service was good. The room was clean, tidy and come with all necessity, but bath/shower excluded. However, based on the price, I was happy with it because I don't mind to use the bathroom in the onsen area on floor one. There was only two down side that I found: First, the male onsen area floor was sticky and slippery with moss (My left hand accidentally touched it and my hand was sticked with moss in outdoor onsen area) that includes indoor and outdoor area. I wish they would take more effort to the cleanliness of onsen area. Second, the suana was not available for customer to use. However, I had a fantastic sauna and onsen in 万世閣 (a hotel where is just a few minutes walk away from Toya Grand Hotel) by a paying walk in onsen fee(1300 yen) for non-resident. So, it didn't affect me much. Overall, my experience was good. I would give Toya Grand Hotel 8 out of 10. I love Toya Grand Hotel. I would recommend it.

-the room was tidy when first move-in but did not clean the bin for 2 days stay -Described as lake view but changed my room to lower G/F floor which was unable to see any lake view -the hot spring smelled moldy and some of the tiles in pool were peeling off. - understand the hotel was old fashion, but appeared to be more justified for the rate charged to us with better maintenance.
