Hotel Tropis

We moved here from another local hotel. We were in a difficult position and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. They looked after us very well and saved our holiday, which we are very grateful. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The room was comfortable and had a generous sized balcony with a sea view. As we paid on arrival, the beach taxi, and beach were included and there was no extra cost. The pool is very spacious and well served. The cocktails were delicious, with generous snacks. The breakfast arrangements were reasonable but limited and there was an odd setup with drinks, where you had to be served at a bar. This caused a lot a congestion and it would be far better to make water and orange juice etc available freely to avoid this. I would definitely stay here again. It is stone throw away from the train station and a very short walk into town.

The hotel is very clean and your room is cleaned every day and fresh towels are left. The shuttle service to the beach is great and the sea is gorgeous. The nearby restaurants are lovely and the walk back is a bit steep but good exercise! The breakfast options were a bit limited- I believe the cooked breakfast wasn’t very nice and there wasn’t much salad, cheese or nice bread - just stale and tasteless bits of bread. This put us off having dinner at the hotel. The pool is lovely with great cocktails. I found the mattress a little hard and I was really disappointed that there wasn’t a kettle. Very unusual. I asked for one at reception and the receptionist didn’t seem to understand.

Great hotel, clean and modern. Perfect location just outside of the tourist area. A 5 minute walk down a straight road to get in the middle of everything. The staff was great, excellent front desk. Breakfast was delicious. All staff seems fluent in Italian, English and German. Good massages at the spa. I would absolutely stay here again. I just wish the AC would cool the room down better. The room felt much warmer than what was reported on the thermostat.

We stayed for 3 nights while exploring the area. The hotel is at the top of the old town up a hill. This was a short walk but warm in August! We checked in quickly but had a leaking shower so had to move rooms. This was a little painful with very little apology from the staff or manager. Eventually they gave us a few bottles for the mini bar for the inconvenience. Staff at the pool were great and generally staff were friendly. The pool is excellent and there are many places to sit and lounge! Rooms were small but the Aircon was not great especially in the summer. Breakfast was very simple so don't expect anything fancy. I liked the place overall and the town and beach was stunning.

I highly recommend the Tropis Hotel. This was the first trip to Calabria, the birthplace of my grandparents, for our three teenagers and we wanted it to be memorable. The hotel location was convenient; a quick walk to the centro Tropea main piazza and fabulous restaurants, a 15 minute walk to the marina and guests are provided a complimentary shuttle service to the beach - no need for a car. All the staff were incredible! Benito was super informative and responsive to all our requests from booking our rooms to helping coordinate activities. After an incredible day at the beach or boating on the Costa de Dei, Domenico was always waiting poolside with a spritz or espresso. The rooms were spacious - the three kids in one room and my wife and I in our own and the air conditioning was great (unlike when we were in Rome). The morning breakfasts were perfect and offered a nice variety - of course I craved starting the day with an authentic Cafe americano...or two ;) Thank you again Tropis Hotel for helping make our trip to Tropea truly special and unforgettable! Clean, comfortable but visually quite ordinary hotel. Very easy access with a car but still in a walking distance from the centre of Tropea. The best thing in this hotel was an amazing service! Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We are both vegetarians, so even though there wasn't many options on the list, they created us a nice meals, so very thankful for that!
