Bryce Valley Lodging

Room 20; The room smelled so strongly of cigarettes that after 36 hours there all our clothes smell like it for the rest of our trip and it made me so nauseated. The smoke detector was unplugged/not working and the shower head needs to be cleaned. It’s a cute place but not worth that.

Great location right near Bryce Canyon. Restaurants/shops on the same street which was very practical. Cute little cabins, very comfortable beds. Nice bathroom. Parking right outside each cabin. Nice breakfast with plenty choice. Check in at sister lodge reception, right across the street. Not really any kind of view, but nice area!

My husband and I are tolerant of lack of amenities, but cleanliness is a must, and this lodging fell very short in that regard. Our cabin was very dirty and poorly maintained, so we only stayed one night out of the three that we had booked. There is so much potential for this property, and the location is great, but management needs to pay attention to their critical reviews and make things right. First off, the entry door was in poor condition, as well as there was a hole in the deck, the railing would have just needed a good push to completely fall over and the bench seat was totally rickety. Inside it appeared cute, but did not smell good and then we started to notice the filthy floors, built up crud around the sink taps (which need replacement very badly...the water sprayed everywhere), built up hard water residue on the shower head and terrible mildew in the shower and on the curtain (don't most properties change out cloth shower curtains with each guest?). The worst part was the webbing and spiders. We had to "get rid of" several spiders and there was webbing everywhere, including down the entire bathroom door jamb. The screen on the bathroom window was broken, as well as no screen on the front window, so we were not able to open the windows to get some fresh air inside. The bed we slept in had a mattress that had likely never been replaced and the smoke detector was falling off the wall. We found a new place to stay in Tropic for the other two nights, and when returning the key and stating how poor the room was, the person at the desk had no response and in fact did not even make eye contact with my husband.

The Lodge was fine. The accommodations were good and the food at the restaurant was good. What makes it a five rating is the fact that it’s so worth it to be in the park. Zion is now one of our favorite parks in the country. It was beautiful everywhere you looked .

Tiny place. Only 20 minutes from Bryce which is why we booked it. I know we’re not here to be on the internet but when you’re trying to figure out your next destination it’s important and the wifi here was pretty much useless. Limited restaurants in Tropic. Highly recommend Stone Hearth Inn.

This ledging is cabins. The price was the best in the area so we got what we paid for. No heat except for the bathroom. No breakfast; no ice; no cover on the frosted bathroom window. Microwave oven table doesn't rotate. I had to give it 3 stars, even though I wanted to give it 2 stars, because I would probably come back again (other places are so high in price).

Checked room first before checking in as when we pulled up there was no one around in the main building yet the door was unlocked and it was obvious someone had been working in the laundry area. These units look like lego buildings plunked down on a gravelled lot. All in rows. Cobwebs in the corners, drapes hanging ascue and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. Full of dust. Not on the right side of "rustic" for us. Called phone # on reservation confirmation and after being told mail box full and then tried again put through to I think it answered America's Value Inns?? then I pressed "O" and got a live person who said she had the key and was across the street at the Red Ledges Inn. Explained needed to see room first, good thing as didn't pass. Asked her if she had "king" at the hotel and she said yes so we took it. It wasn't much better. Door didn't fit in frame and an inch of light shone through each side. Bathroom ceiling had been patched with 2 sections of plywood covered in stippling in screwed into the ceiling. Bathroom floor had not been wiped down in some time with dirt and dust in the corners. We find that in the US we need at least a 4 rating but with high prices at Bryce I looked to "near by". This was rated 3.5!! I wouldn't give it a 3.

Clean and quiet cabin in a good location with fridge and microwave and working wifi. Cabin really tight for 2 people---barely any room to move around, especially in the shower---I am 5'5" and 140 pounds and I could not turn around in the shower without bumping into the walls. The overhead light did not work, which was a minor issue. The big problem was the air conditioner---it was blasting very cold the first day but broke on the second day. The manager quickly assessed the situation and moved us to a hotel room across the street at the Red Ledges. Probably would book at the hotel next time.

Bryce Valley Lodging was a disappointment. They were cabins but should have been plenty comfortable. The first night we were in one with no WiFi which was an issue for the 14 year old and the lock on the front door was loose and very difficult to open. I complained to the front desk and was informed that they would work on it. When we returned the next afternoon the issues were still present so we complained again. We were moved to another cabin with working WiFi. The outlets were very loose and the overhead fan switch did not work. We complained again. We talked to the new manager who informed us that they had just taken over and had a large backlog of neglected maintenance issues that they were working on. Likely in a few months this review will no longer be applicable.
