We visited Vikingen Resort at the start of the season, which meant the resort was quieter ideal for relaxing but also meant fewer entertainment options were available. That said, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay, though mainly because we managed our expectations and handled any issues ourselves. While we’re glad we visited, it’s not a place we’d return to. A few consistent problems held it back from being a repeat destination for us. ### First Impressions Upon arrival, the overall atmosphere from staff was quite blasé. Don’t expect warm smiles or overly friendly service aside from one standout young man with glasses who helped us with our bags and greeted us with genuine warmth. Once you accept the more reserved attitude, it’s manageable, but British guests in particular might find it a bit off-putting. ### Language Barrier It’s worth noting that very few staff members speak English. Understandable, given we’re not the primary tourist demographic but it can become frustrating when you need help or have a specific issue. ### The Spa – Be Aware A word of caution about the spa: from the moment you arrive, expect constant upselling. Staff will persistently offer “special discounts” to lure you in, and even after booking a treatment, you’re likely to face more pressure to upgrade. One tip: say you don’t have any money on you at the time they may back off. I was told I’d be charged in euros (which would’ve cost less), only to see the machine switched to pounds at the last moment clearly to maximize profit. It felt very manipulative. ### Upselling Everywhere From the hotel entrance to the waterslide bridge, there’s a relentless push to buy: tattoos, sweets, ice cream, spa deals, photos, excursions you name it. You’ll need patience to navigate it all without feeling harassed. I even overheard a spa worker pushing a guest who had just finished a massage to book more, despite her politely declining multiple times. Honestly, it left a bad taste. ### Pools & Waterslides These were a highlight! Clean, fun, and plenty for all ages even early in the season, the water was warm and inviting. ### Beach The water was beautiful, but the beach itself was very stony and painful to walk on water shoes are a must. ### Food One of the best aspects of the stay. A huge variety of food was available around the clock. The main restaurant was clean and well-organized, and we loved the rotating “dish of the day.” Across the bridge, there are even more food options definitely try the pasta and chicken station! ### Entertainment The entertainment during our visit was average fairly repetitive and started too late for families with young children. However, it looks like they’ve recently added more activities based on their social media, which is a bit frustrating considering we paid full price and didn’t get the full experience. ### Room Our room was comfortable and clean. On arrival, some lights weren’t working. We reported it, and while most were fixed th
