Royal Palms Motel

Little retro beach motel but better. Rooms were super nice. Small but simple. And if you are really at the beach or out and about exploring and are there for at 2 days then its the perfect size. Air conditioner worked great. Beds were comfy. And we barely hear any outside noise. Walk to the beach was easy and quick. If you want to walk to the pier than its little more of a walking distance but not that bad. Only wish the bathroom sink was bigger. But, like I said if you are only there a day or two then sink size will be fine.

Location is great, a quick walk to the beach. A quick drive to good restaurants. The room was clean. Beds comfortable. Most lounge chairs around the pool were broken. It was so windy at the beach, that we decided to lounge at the pool and couldn’t find a chair without cracks. Housekeeping doesn’t come daily. I don’t recall seeing anything about that. The trash cans are too small for even a 2 night stay. They gave us 4 towels to start, and we will reuse, but they were damp still the next day. Not sure how to get replacements, The faucet was too large for the small sink, you just can’t turn the water on full and it’s fine. Parking spaces are very tight. This is the biggest issue. People came with large trucks & SUVs and if all the rooms were full, it would be impossible to get in and out of your car.

I had read the previous reviews about the Royal Palms in Tybee Island and was looking forward to our trip. Unfortunately, it was not the accommodations I expected. There are a few things I need to mention that would have made our time in room 20 more pleasant. First, the bathroom is tiny and poorly designed. The faucet was way too large for the small sized , the toilet seat was loose and the top of the seat was broken. This made it difficult to use the facilities, especially since the location of the toilet made it impossible to sit straight ahead without putting one's feet in the shower. We had to use the toilet side saddle. Also the hairdryer was broken. The biggest issue we had was the odor when you entered and clammiest of the room. Our sheets were damp from the humidity which made it very uncomfortable to sleep. Any clothing left out of the suitcase became clammy as well. Even our phones had moisture on them. We had the air conditioner on fan but it didn't help. The motel should consider putting a humidifier in the rooms. It might help. Also something to capture the moldy smell. On the positive front desk people were lovely and the location is great and had it not been damp, the bed would have been very comfortable. Making a few changes would improve our overall rating from fair to very good.

Clean room and space was efficiently used. Bed was comfortable. Easy checkin. Pool looked nice. Room was temperature friendly. The motel was in great location- three blocks from beach, easy safe walk. We will stay there again as it’s a great value to stay on island and near the beach.

Rooms are fair enough sized, laid out weird. You walk into a bedroom/livingroom, couch sits under tv facing the bed. Issues 6 digit key code to use as a key, which was odd, door didn’t shut right unless slammed. Bathroom is in other room, outer bedroom has to walk through second room to use it, parking lot is super tight. Pool is small but adequate. Within walking distance to beach and pier. Staff in office was very nice, price was ok. Might try somewhere else next time.

We stayed here for a night while in the area - love love love this little motel! The retro vibe was super cool. Room was clean and comfortable. The pool was on the roadside, but nice and as relaxing as it could be due to location. Well staffed and we felt safe - a great value for the price! Walking distance to the beach and many other nearby points of interest. Highly recommend! We will be back :)
