The Leela Palace Udaipur

First of all, it was truly one of the finest stays we’ve ever had. From the floor managers to the GM to our butler (Jajo), everyone went above and beyond to serve us. • Food: Absolutely delicious. • Check-in: The boat ride from the dock to the reception was unbelievable — the hype was 100% true. • Experience: We had so much to do, and the only sad part was that we had to leave. Truly an amazing experience. Our Daughter’s birthday was well celebrated A few cons (for improvement): 1. The pool was quite deep — if you’re not a swimmer, you really can’t enjoy it. 2. The in-room dining menu felt very limited, especially for snacks. It was raining, and we were craving hot snacks, but only a sandwich and spring rolls were available. 3. The kids’ room was under renovation, so we missed out on that. 4. Sheesh Mahal dining felt just okay — not as exceptional as we expected.

From the moment you arrive, the warmth, kindness, and politeness of every staff member make you feel at home. The service here is unparalleled, and the hospitality goes far beyond expectations. Of course, being a palace property, the grandeur and luxury are undeniable. But what really makes this place unforgettable is how the team ensures you feel like the king of the palace. The food, the service, and the way they look after every detail is beyond perfection. I am deeply grateful for this experience and feel blessed to have been here. A special mention must go to the incredible staff who made our stay so memorable: • Abhimaan and Madhav – who showed us around the property with such passion and heart, going above and beyond their duty. • Yash – who patiently assisted us with check-in, guided us to our rooms, and answered every query with utmost care. • Raghav – truly the star of the restaurant. He has an exceptional gift of understanding exactly what you want, even before you ask, and brings you the best food you never knew you needed. His service makes you feel as though you are dining at his own home. This stay has reminded me of the beautiful Indian value of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God), and The Leela Palace Udaipur embodies this spirit in every way.

Our trip at the Leela Udaipur was nothing short of a fairytale, everything was beyond our expectations. The views, the staff, the hospitality, the Rajasthan Charm, all stunning from the get go. Our butler, Madhav as well as our housekeeper, Rahul made sure everything was taken care of. We were there to celebrate my mum’s birthday and Madhav made the occasion all the more special with his courtesy. 10/10 in every way, will definitely come back!

Our stay at The Leela Palace Udaipur was absolutely unforgettable. The service was truly exceptional, our butler Neha went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, and her warmth and professionalism made us feel right at home. The palace itself is stunning, set against the backdrop of Lake Pichola with breathtaking views of the City Palace and Aravalli Hills. The location couldn’t be more perfect, serene, scenic, and just a short boat ride from the city. We loved the food, every meal was a beautifully crafted experience with a mix of traditional Rajasthani flavors and global cuisine. The hotel’s dining options, especially Sheesh Mahal and The Dining Room, were standouts. The amenities were top-notch, from the luxurious spa and infinity pool to the curated cultural performances in the evenings. Every part of our stay felt thoughtfully designed to reflect the rich heritage of Udaipur while offering all the comforts of modern luxury. Will definitely be coming back again, thank you to the entire team, especially Neha, for making our time at The Leela Palace so special!

….. find new words of praise that have not been used by other visitors. However this is my review of our experience at The Leela. In honesty prior to our arrival I had some concerns as I had discovered that during our 5 night stay the hotel was also hosting a large wedding in the grounds. As such I was informed that certain areas would “not be available” to us. This caused some concern as we are “foodie types” and wanted to experience the various dining options and unique dining locations offered at The Leela. Anyway I was assured that the management team would ensure our Leela experience would be enjoyable. From the moment we arrived they kept that promise. The arrival at the hotel is by boat from the private dock near City Palace. We are greeted by Musicians and a welcomed Shade carrying greeter. As we walked under the lobby dome we were showered with Rose Petals, and offered a welcome glass of bubbles, which made a great start to our Wedding Anniversary celebrations. We were being escorted to our room, which turned into an upgraded beautiful Suite called the Residence. On entrance through the lobby area it opens up to features a large open plan Lounge Dining area, with a work desk should it be required ( it was not as I am retired ) there is also a large dressing area and a well equipped bathroom. The large separate bedroom area with very comfortable King Size bed and other decorative fittings. The Suite opens up across 3 balconies to views across manicured gardens to Lake Pichola. Throughout the public areas of the hotel you will find a collection of unique artwork, statues and ornamental pieces. All of which add to the luxury feel of this property. Now one thing for any visitor to the 5* hotels situated around the Lake is that these locations are very popular as wedding celebration venues, and we understand why as it is very romantic. However this can interfere with the facilities hotels can offer, and in certain ways we did experience this, Indian Weddings are Glamorous, Colourful and Noisy. I would recommend anyone looking to book hotels in this area to check if a function might be hosted at the same time. Now in fairness most wedding do a full takeover and therefore this is not an issue. So during our stay the hotel actually hosted 2 weddings and as such there was some areas that were taken over and a fair bit of Set Up / Take down work going on, but the management did everything possible to ensure we were not disturbed. But this really added to our Indian experience, the wedding celebrations were fabulous to watch from a distance and the Brides family were fantastic hosts and invited us to join their celebrations. The spectacular decor, music and ceremony gave us something special to remember. So because certain areas of the hotel grounds were given over to the party, the Food and Beverage team lead by Mr Amit Basu arranged some alternative dining locations for us to celebrate our anniversary. The Leela Palace Udaipur is a beautiful, lavish hotel designed to showcase the rich heritage and culture of Rajasthan! The one thing that stood out for me is the hotel’s hospitality. Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel, we could feel the staff’s warmth and hospitality! We were welcomed with a shower of rose petals, welcome drink and traditional Rajasthani music. Every evening they had ghoomar dance in their central square. They served delicious, traditional Rajasthani dishes at their breakfast buffet ***** with a great spread of Punjabi, South Indian and Continental items. Their staff would wait right by our table to help my in-laws and my young kids. Even on the last day when we checked out, they offered to pack us sandwiches for our road trip back home. Their concierge guided us for all the local sightseeing, shopping and even helped plan our trip to the nearby religious place - Nathdwara to visit the ancient Shrinathji temple. Overall, we had a memorable experience at the Leela Palace Udaipur and I would recommend the hotel to everyone looking for a luxurious, once in a lifetime hospitable experience!
