The Turtley Corn Mill

Went for lunch with family and considered the food to be of average quality, small portion size but very high price. Service was also slow and we were there nearly 2 hours for 3 mains and 1 desert. It is a lovely location and we have been there many times over many years but there comes a point when enough is enough.

I have dined here many times with excellent food but not this time!I opted for the scallops which were very few and tiny and mixed in with carefully diced new potatoes resembling the the scallops which appeared to be in a deliberate attempt to disguise the fact that the meal only contained six tiny ones and without roe! The side of the dish was lined with tasteless cucumber and tomatoes placed alternatively in an attempt at artistry. Apart from the greasy overcooked bacon and slush underneath the entire meal lacked taste and appeal came with no accompaniment and hardly qualified as a main satisfying offering! At over £25 it was of ridiculous value and I have enjoyed far better taste and value at many eateries an a fraction of the price!

They saved our holiday! We had booked another place, but had to leave it because it was so awful and not as advertised. Found the Corn Mill and they helped us straight away! Luckily one of their lodges was available, so they showed us around before we decided. It was a big YES from us! Absolutely amazing. The view was beautiful, the lodge absolutely stunning and had everything you need (and a little bit more)…. The staff were fantastic and so helpful. Did everything they could to give us such a delightful experience. Food is lovely and the atmosphere was great. This is the place! We will definitely come back! Thank you all for everything you did to help us. Much appreciated.

The roast was superb and the portion sizes were excellent. I woul;d recommend the apple tray bake it was delicious and very well presented. Staff are very firendly and the service was swift and attentive. Yes the drinks and food are not budget prices but the quality, surroundings and staff make it a great place for a treat or special occasion and as a business Owner I apprciate the overheads in keeping a venue like this open. The Owners are clearly dedicated to guest satisfaction and are entitled to earn a good living to boot!

The food was good and the staff attentive the prices however in relation to the portion size are shocking. A pint of birra morreti - £8.50?! A guiness zero can - £8.40, the cheapest pint being a Dartmoor legend at £6.80, a pint which is brewed literally on the doorstep?! God forbid if you want to bring your own birthday cake as turtley will charge you a 'small fee' of £25! Money for old rope, it seemed if they could charge you for the hand soap they would! Disappointing as it seems like a hard working team and great atmosphere are being let down by someone's greed. Won't rush back unfortunately, not until the second mortgage is agreed anyway.

Imagine lovey What a lovely lovely stay. Beautiful and Picturesque and my room is high quality, homely and immaculate. The top notch is the service - Super engaged team who are attentive, professional and seem really committed to client experience.
