I should have read more reviews before booking the place. As a few others have mentioned there’s no where to store your own food and no common area to eat your own food. Which is strange because there’s a large Albert Hiejn grocery store across the street. I guess they expect people to buy everything at the attached restaurant but normally the whole point of a hostel is for budget-oriented travellers. You know, the type that don’t eat a hoity-toity meal at a restaurant every time they need to eat. The rooms themselves are fine just that a real hostel needs more common areas to linger.

We stayed here as a family with two small kids in the Miffy Room in October. In our opinion it is a great place to stay for families and we can fully recommend it. Hostel: The location of the hostel is great - very close to all sights in the center of Utrecht. The staff were very helpful and friendly both at reception and in the restaurant. Room: We really liked the Miffy Room - it was spacious and clean. Additionally there were toys our kids enjoyed. Also tickets for the Miffy Museum were included. The room is not facing the square in front of the hotel which is an advantage in our opinion. We heard some noise but it was not a problem and it didn’t keep the kids up. Restaurant: The 5th was had a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food and service were good. The breakfast was basic but nothing was missing.

I booked a private room in April; it had basic amenities and was sufficient. The weather was chilly, but the heating was easy to use and effective. The hostel was easy to find and just a 5-6 minute walk, thanks to the shortcut through the shopping mall outside Utrecht Centraal, which they informed me about via email after my booking. The common areas are peaceful and comfortable, perfect for reading, studying, or chatting with friends. I especially loved their breakfast—it was rich and reasonably priced at the same time. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. The staff is young and dynamic, and every team member, from the housekeepers to the bar and reception staff, did a great job. The location is unbeatable—central and very walkable. The neighbourhood was lively, but I didn't have any noise issues, either inside or outside the hostel. The team and management care about sustainability and green practices, which was a big plus.

Stayed here as the party leader on a school Music Tour with 71 students and 10staff. Ideal for us and would happily stay again. Modern rooms and clean bathrooms, small communal space on the 1st floor, plenty of food for breakfast, central location for getting out and about. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The place had a young trendy vibe which our teenagers appreciated. Thanks for looking after us so well.

We stayed in room 104 on April 28-30. The floors must be thin because I could hear people walking in the room above ours. Because the light in the bathroom was motion-activated, it turned on automatically when opening the door at night, potentially waking my partner. Pros - bamboo toilet paper, location Cons - noise from above, motion sensor light in bathroom, no tables, no shelf in shower

Excellent location. Clean, easy to get to from Centraal train station. Cross the main blvd. to find yourself in a great food district. Lots of places to eat & drink. We enjoyed our stay. Why not 5 stars? No bath mat. The bathroom floor gets very wet after a shower. Only one towel per person (no hand towels no bath mats).

The newly renovated Food and Beverage area is very spacious with a nice design. You can easily work there with a laptop during the day and they also provide really good lunch! The location is outstanding, right at De Neude. Could be very chill to sit there for an evening drink as they are the only place that provides some lounge chairs to sit at semi-outdoor at the plaza.

Best thing about this hostel is the location, 10 mins by bus from the train station, and very central to the nightlife and bars etc. We had a comfort room for 2 people, at the back of the hotel, the bed were comfortable, although only 1 small pillow, 1 towel is included, but no hand towel for drying hand. the room we had was on the 3rd floor, with limited head space with the slanted windows. So not good if your tall. With black out blinds Although a hostel it is not cheap to stay here… over €100 per night, for that you get room, and towel with showergel… no coffee/tea, no aircon or fan, no hairdryer. The time we visited was particularly warm, so we had to open windows, and due to central location, it was very noisy outside ….people outside laughing and talking till 3-4am, then the street cleaners at approximately 6am. If you do decide to stay here, you need to use ear plugs.
