Hacienda Uxmal All Culture and Fun Inclusive

The Hacienda promises great things on the website but is extremely disappointing in reality. Location & sense of history are great & the room size spacious but that’s its only positives. As we checked in, the guy at reception tried to charge our credit card in US dollars rather than Mexican pesos, then just gave us the keys and we were left to find our own way to the rooms, no help, or information given at all. Walking up the grand staircase to our rooms, we were met with a pile of furniture all in wraps as if waiting for the removal van to arrive. All the tiled floors looked like they needed a good scrub & housekeeping staff had left all the dirty towels, sheets & bags of garbage in piles along the corridors giving a less than good first impression. We spent the first hour of our stay having the safe & coffee machine changed as neither worked. The TV had only 2 channels, both of which were like looking at a snow storm, the a/c fan was broken, the picture window was filthy inside and out, the bath mat was a rather revolting off white grey colour, the bathtub was so slippery it made having a shower quite a challenge, the lighting was grim and the fridge froze everything we put in it! Breakfast was a complete rip off, by far the most expensive & least appetising one we’ve had on this trip, served by surly & apathetic staff. Needless to say, we chose a different place to have breakfast the next two days of our stay which were half the price & so much better. With decent management & a bit of TLC, this hotel would be amazing!

The Hacienda is fabulous, clean and comfortable. Fantastic location to explore the ruins just a few steps away. Steeped in history, Hacienda Uxmal and the Choco Story are amazing. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Continental breakfast was delicious and the coffee hot. 100% recommend staying here.

Horrible experience, made us pay double for the rooms since they “did not see the payment already made in advance”. Rooms were dirty and smelly. No warm water available anywhere, could only shower with ice cold water. Did not have any alternatives whatsoever for people with food allergies. The staff told us they had nothing to offer for breakfast for the ones allergic to dairy. Not even a piece of bread or a coffee with plant-based milk. For other members of the family the pancakes ordered were raw on the inside.

An old hotel on beautiful grounds. Took forever to get hot water in the shower. Took over an hour to get a simple breakfast and our coffee was never refilled. Service is terrible and food prices are exorbitant! They do not serve lunch or dinner so you have to walk quite a way to another hotel if you want to eat and it is extremely expensive.

Very beautiful place, old hacienda, great swimming pool, very nice and spacious rooms, huge bathroom. We had upstairs rooms which were very nice and quiet. The bathroom started to smell bad in the early morning hours, should not happen in a hotel of that price range! There is a TV but they only have three channels and the picture looks like snow storm in the Swiss Alps. If they have a TV at all, then you expect it to work properly and have more channels. It would also be fine without a TV.

We spent one night here, before visiting Uxmal. It’s low season and so the place was very quiet. I was initially a bit unsure from previous reviews during low season about pools being out of service and the fact dinner is in an offsite restaurant. In fact, we think we loved it all the more because it was low season. The hacienda is beautiful, and really historic. The room was spotlessly clean and had the most amazing view. The sounds of the jungle are fabulous and you can spend ages just sitting and listening. The main pool was great (the only pool open) and the bar tender (I didn’t catch his name) made us the best cocktails we’ve had in Mexico at a very reasonable price for a high end place (around 150MXN). Dinner was over the road and was good (not amazing) but service was excellent. Breakfast was served at the hacienda but not included in our room price (around 300 MXN pp). It’s the perfect location for visiting Uxmal - a five min walk to the ticket office. The hacienda arranged a guide for us who was great (we really recommend getting a guide). The main reason we stayed at the hacienda was so we could get to Uxmal early and it was well worth it - for the first hour there was only one other person there.

Recommend the hotel for its location. Room was comfortable, large and clean. We had the last room (so long walk) on the second floor, which was larger than most and had a field view, plus a king sized bed. Very few people staying at the hotel. Breakfast was at the hotel, and dinner at their sister property across the street.
