Scandic Waskia

The room contained a broken floor lamp with exposed electical wiring. This lamp was connected to the wall outlet. This is completely unacceptable and the fact that this was a family room makes it even worse. The lamp was removed from our room after we pointed this out. However, it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Most of the property was renovated, like the rooms, so it was a bit funny combination of older and more modern styles. Overall we really liked our room, the hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was good. We will definitely visit this hotel again.

Second visit to the Hotel Waskia after all the hotel rooms have been renovated. Now the rooms and the entire hotel look clean and modern, so the hotel upgrade has been a success. The "new hotel" together with the hospitality manner of the staff ensures that in the future I will stay at the Hotel Waskia.

Myself and my family recently stayed at Waskia for two nights and I have to say we were extremely disappointed with the standard of this hotel. I was not made aware when booking just how much the renovation works would disrupt our stay. This hotel should not be open during these works. We made it known to reception that we were unhappy with the various things that were wrong with our room, no wardrobes - we had to leave clothes in the cases, broken safety box, no warm water, to name just a few. We reported these issues and were told that a member of staff would contact us immediately, but no-one did. On checking-out we requested to speak with the manager but were told there were no senior staff on duty (What sort of hotel has no senior staff working during weekends?). However, we were assured that the manager, Tiina Ruismäki, would contact us the following day when she returned to work. Now it’s over a week later and we still haven’t been contacted. We had stayed at this hotel each Summer for the previous two years and everything was fine but this year was a total disaster and will certainly be our last time to stay at there. We were treated with disdain and it appears that they really don’t care. Because of this we will avoid all Scandic hotels in the future. There are further issues which I will highlight in a later review, just to warn others what they will be letting themselves in for if they book this hotel.

We spend our weekend here in one of the renovated rooms. It was clean and good enough to spend few nights. Bathroom isn't renovated though. Still worth the money. Goal of our holiday was to have some good time in Tropiclandia with our 6 year old. Tropiclandia is very kid-friendly place. Clean, but outdated. But still great place to give you children some good memories in warm waterpark atmosphere.

A peaceful hotel with all amenities in wonderful sea views near the center of Vaasa. Comfortable rooms and free parking, we didn't need more. Beside the hotel is the Tropiclandia spa, which can be very important for the families with children.
