La Maison du Frene

Lovely small hotel, with charming art, considerate owners, and quiet room. I would stay there any time.

It was a real treat to spend two weeks at La Maison du Frêne, a jewel of a hotel situated in the heart of the picturesque town of Vence, with its maze of medieval streets and numerous cafés and restaurants. Our light and airy suite was spacious, extremely comfortable and furnished with panache. What makes this hotel so memorable, however, is the level of care and attention given to guests. Each morning as our delicious breakfast was served our hosts went out of their way to help us plan our programme for the day, enthusiastically suggesting places to visit and providing helpful maps and leaflets. They showed a genuine interest in hearing where guests had been and how they had enjoyed themselves. The patrons listened with patience and encouragement to our faltering French and were happy to to continue the conversation in English when we became tongue-tied. They ordered taxis for us and were thoughtful enough to provide us with a bottle of wine to share with visiting family, as well as a parting gift as a souvenir of our stay. A truly original, delightful, relaxing family-run hotel. Simply a must for anyone wishing to stay in the area.

This was the best experience ever! The place is exquisitely decorated, combining Old World elegance with sophisticated modern art. Everyone on the staff was helpful, especially Thierry, who gave us great ideas for our daily adventures and for the rest of the journey. Oh, I must especially thank the manager who went out of his way to sort through the daily garbage and find the voucher for redeeming our car from the parking lot!! Our room was large, comfortable, and well-equipped. Breakfasts were ample, with lots of choices, including fresh, seasonal fruit. Vence itself is a charming town, with plenty of outdoor cafes , excellent restaurants, and interesting walks. The Matisse Chapel is not to be missed and it is within easy walking distance. If you are planning to stay in this area, this is the best place. We can hardly wait to return.

Even though we used to live in this region I hadn’t considered a B and B, but this beautiful place is something else. The place is simply stunning. The staff and owners are a delight. It represents amazing value in this region. I stayed in The Chateau suite and was surrounded by truly special decor and comfort. Perfect base to explore the region with many restaurants in the local area. The facilities are so well:considered even down to a shoe horn and torch, as well a welcome fridge, and availability of drinks to order. I’ve just arrived back home today and am already looking forward to another visit,

We had three nights at La Maison du Frene. Our room was lovely, very spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was great the highlight being the freshly cooked croissants. The hosts were very friendly and Thierry's local knowledge and suggestions were very helpful. La Maison du Frene was in a great position, easy walk to restaurants and has paid parking a short walk away.
