Hotel Valle del Este

Excellent staff, room ready early. Rooms were clean and enough space. Food is buffet style but there was plenty of choice. Great terrace to watch the other golfers come in. Lovely pool area with sun beds. I recommend a stay here. Golf is on site so the car never moved for 3 days.

I’ve been coming to VDE for the last 10 years and this year (May 2024) the course is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen. On every hole, the greens and aprons are simply unplayable, full of disease, unkempt and extremely disappointing. We were due to play both VDE and Aguilon twice but decided not to play VDE for a 2nd time due to the above. We were promised a refund but this didn’t materialise as the golf manager advised there haven’t been any complaints. This is only possible if he hasn’t been out on his course and/or has his head buried in the sand / most of the tee boxes. You need to do much, much better VDE.

My second visit to this hotel(first was 10yrs ago)which I think is lovely. They had some improvements from that visit ie nice coffee machines and nicer seating. The let downs are the rooms which definitely need an upgrade and for the doors to be soft closing as you have to bang them shut. Dining area where breakfast and dinner is served ( I agree with a previous review where flies and other pests were hovering and landing on foodstuffs) The health of patrons should be paramount, I was very wary of eating anything, so stuck to fruit ie banana plums and satsuma and tubs of ice cream. I had dinner once and did not wish to repeat it. Oh and also they had a few birds flying in. But really the main concern is seeing flies landing on all the food and bread. There needs to be a solution to this, my first breakfast resulted in a bout of diarrhoea. The staff are pleasant, was impressed with Lola in the spa who gave an excellent massage.

Not sure how Dad and I wound up here! I'm a golfer from Florida and have played all over Europe. This is the worst hotel I've ever encountered! Staff don't care, untrained, don't like Americans or British, food smells so awful we didn't even try it. Shopping center? They cannot be serious! Supermarket is a barely stocked near empty shop that is always closed. They advertise that Mojacar (lovely coastline) is 15 minutes away. It's 25 minutes to Garrucha - no less! Mojacar is 30 minutes + longer in the summer due to heavy traffic along the seafront. The staff and management argue with guests when they report anything other than praise. After 2 nights here, we left (didn't ask for a refund because people told us we wouldn't get it) and booked our 12 remaining nights in the Parador hotel - wonderful experience. We only played once on the course at Valle del Este and transferred our team's play to Aguilon. They cannot be serious!

We come to Spain every year and always include Valle Del Este as a golf course to play. Unfortunately, this year the course is in a terrible state. The Greens and fringes absolutely poor, lots of sand and repair marks, even the Marina Mojacar Course is in better nick. For 117 euros for 2 players and a buggy was a complete and utter rip off. Course marshalling non existent so expect a very slow round. I have made a complaint but they just brushed it off. It's a resort course with hotel with a lot of traffic, probably explains why the course is in a terrible state and going downhill. Really not sure if we will go back.

About the hotel itself: I didn’t stay there but the coffee bar and the terrace are great. And as far as golf is concerned: I’ve been there many times - and the staff of the pro-shop is even better. The driving range now has tracking facilities and the pitching green and 9 of the holes are renewed. My opinion: worth the visit!
