Villa Campestri is spectacular! It is quite literally a Villa dating back to the 12th century and was once owned by the Medici's (or so I heard from one of the workers there). The rooms are super comfortable, beautiful, high ceilings, and it feels like you are sleeping in a museum! The grounds are gorgeous as well, there is a huge lawn to walk around, a small creek at the back of the property, an ancient Etruscan walk, a couple of hikes through the forest/olive groves, a medieval church down the street and an ancient giant Cypress tree planted by a saint. The history is absolutely insane here and everything (especially the pool) is gorgeous! The restaurant, is excellent as well! The waiter, Jesse, is a character, and their house red wine is the best I've tasted in Italy. Unfortunately they don't offer the olive oil tasting since covid, but they are happy to call you a taxi to get to town or call a masseuse in for a massage. Although, I wouldn't recommend the massage, it was too light (felt like a tickle) no English communication, and I was drenched in olive oil, but I am grateful for the experience! Gaia and Ameliano were incredible. We didn't have a way to get from the train station to the Villa (which is about 3.4 miles away) and we called the villa for help and Ameliano found us a private driver to save us at 10pm! He literally saved us or esle we would have slept in the station since taxis are only made by appointment in Vicchio! I also recommend renting a car since the town is too far away to walk to from the villa, or arrange a taxi but keep in mind you can't do a same day taxi request! Overall I hope to go back. It was a dream and the relaxing Tuscan experience we wanted! I won this trip on the Price is Right and I am so glad I ended up at Villa Campestri.
