It's a hotel but with with self-check in, no reception or concierge. The day before arrival you get a message with a PIN code to open the door to the floor and your own room. We were a bit worried about that, but everything worked perfectly. There is a phone number to call in case of any problem. The building is one of those majestic, old buildings of Vienna, very nice, and very well maintained. Actually there was work in the entrance when we were there. From the street, you enter through a large, wooden door into a small passage, and from there into the building itself, stairs and lift. It is very close to the center, just behind the University, and very close to the Rathaus and public transporation. Very easy to reach. You can easily walk to the Cathedral, for instance. The room was quite big, clean and comfortable. The bed was great, and the bathroom, although small, was fine and clean. There was a nespresso with capsules for you to make coffe, water and two buns for breakfast. Nice details. There was A/C but we couldn't find the controls or the remote. We had to open a window at night because it was a bit hot. The room doesn't have great views. There was a small annoyace: the TV programs were all in German, all movies are dubbed and you cannot change the language in the TV (not even set the subtitles to english). The option was removed from the menus. At least I couldn't find it, and the TV is the same I have at home. There are several nice places to have breakfast nearby. I can vouch for "Votiv Cafe", in the next street, and "Latte Art" cafe, a bit further away. Very nice place, very convenient location, and at a reasonable price... for Vienna center.
