Esperanza Inn Guesthouse

We had to sweep up all the sand in the apartment upon arrival. Bathroom is third world, a hole for the shower drain, moldy stopper for the sink, no hot water. Beds were too tight for the room, kept hitting our shins. Beds were uncomfortable, so was the sofa. We were asked to turn off the AC when leaving the room too, to come back to muggy 90 degrees? The owners were very kind but I have to be honest, we rate this a 2 star. I have no idea how it got a 5 star rating which is why I booked it, that and the location was close to beach. Overall, very disappointing, my cousin cut her trip short and left early because of this experience.

My wife and I stayed at Esperanza Inn the first time that we vacationed on Vieques and we've been going back every time we visit the island. The rooms are well appointed and clean, there's a enclosed big back yard/garden with a pool, a covered sitting area with tables and chairs and a full kitchen. There's ample parking off the street. The main selling point is that it's short stroll to the Malecon where there are a number of restaurants and bars, gift shops, the Vieques Conservation & Historical Trust and many vendors and tour companies and great views of the Caribbean with it's beautiful blue water, studded with islands and boats of all descriptions. Most evenings the are artists who set up tables on the Malecon. The one drawback is that being so close, the locals enjoy cruising at night with huge speakers playing loud music. Tyler and Suzann are gracious and knowledgeable and make the visit enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Tyler and Suzanne are great hosts. They make you feel at home & helped us with anything we needed to know about our stay. I love getting up in the morning and getting a fresh cup of coffee from the common area and lounging in the back yard with the cats and other guests. The dipping pool is refreshing at the end of the day, or to bring a book and relax on a chaise. It’s fun to watch for Fred the iguana (and others) who hang out there. Our room was clean and stocked with everything you could need including a rain umbrella, cooler and beach towels. Short walk to good restaurants, beach, bio bay tours & water sports rentals. This is my second stay at Esperanza Inn.

This was the perfect small island accommodation for us. It’s situated on the quieter side of the island and a 2 minute walk to the ocean. There is a beach a short 5 minute walk away. The property has a beautiful garden in back with a wading pool. Each room is different. We opted for a second floor larger room overlooking the garden. It had mini fridge microwave and coffee maker. The hosts make fresh coffee each morning in the communal kitchen and make themselves available for advice or directions or to just chat. They come around in the morning and evening otherwise are available by phone which is perfect for those not looking for a full service resort. They even loan out beach chairs, towels, cooler bag, snorkel equipment etc. There’s 4-5 restaurants in a 5 minute walk as well as a convenience store. We would not hesitate to stay at the Esperanza Inn again.

Suzanne and Tyler provided one of the best experiences I’ve had in my travels. They were extremely helpful with area recommendations and incredibly accommodating. My family and I were treated like their family. I would not consider staying anywhere else in my future trips to Vieques.

Tyler and Suzanne were great hosts! Communication before and during our stay was excellent. They shared insider tips for the island so we got the most out of our stay. We will be back to Vieques in the future and plan to stay here again. Thank you for the great stay.
