Villa Michalis

As many others around, this seems to be a lovely family business. You cannot expect too much: the villa is nice, and it gives you an impression of home, whether you like it or not. The owners are wonderful, but you need to keep in mind that the rooms are very basic. And, while the location is picturesque and peaceful, it is quite far from major beaches (Perissa) and sightseeings (Oia).

Booked as this hotel was local to the harbour where I'm meeting a sailing trip. Was met by the owners and very efficiently led straight to my room at 02.30 after a long day's travelling (highly recommend their online check-in service through *********** that allowed this). Clean and comfortable and a convenient (in my case) slightly later check out of 11am. Breakfast was simple yet varied and delicious. Fruit, amazing Greek yoghurt, honey plus a hard boiled egg and bread/pastries all delivered to the table. There was also cheese and ham which I didn't have any room for! Hotel is in a very quiet untouristy area and was perfect for a days relaxing by the pool before meeting my tour group. The pool was clean and pretty with ample sun loungers available all day!

This was our 2nd visit, our first back in 2016, and we were glad to see Michalis and Meroula were still there, with the addition of Stavros and the other members of staff they all made us feel so at home, the food is fantastic, and Michalis' beer is always cold. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and is a great base to enjoy Santorini, but I would advise car rental, as the busses are not as frequent to the south of the island. The pool is great and the grounds are well maintained. Our room was always clean and we had a great view. Will always recommend.
