The most memorable stay at the St. Regis Vonmüller Resort Maldives. We celebrated our 50th birthday, so many options to pick from, but this was definitely the right choice. A very nice welcome after customs at Male Airport. We did not have to wait more than 15 minutes to board our seaplane flight to the resort. A very warm welcome by our amazing butler, Akram. He made our stay very special and was always checking on us to make sure we were taken care of. Our beautiful over-the-water bungalow was everything. The room was exceptionally well kept by our roomkeeper. At the buffet breakfast, we made the sweetest friends ever. Sam is the star of the show. But everyone is so kind, so effortlessly attentive, so welcoming: Dina, Anisa, Bem (Celeste), Novi, and Pina. The cargo restaurant was our favorite. Naifu welcomed us with a big smile the two nights we had dinner there (feet on the sand). Mustafa, the chef, has a magic touch for sure. His meals are a delight. He will make sure you go to your room happily, well-fed. Zel at the beach bar was always so kind. Very few luxury hotels have mastered such a great staff. No doubt everyone will do anything they can to please you. It makes a huge difference to have that personal touch in such a remote, unique place.

The company operates 30 different brands, one of which is St Regis, a five-star hotel chain pioneered by the Astor family which sets the standard when it comes to luxury and sophistication. After arriving back to Malé Sea Plane Terminal from our previous destination, the JW Marriott, our bags were taken and transferred and we were then checked into our next Trans Maldivian Airways seaplane flight. We were introduced to the dedicated St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort Lounge at the seaplane terminal where the check in formalities were done, and having refreshed ourselves with some complimentary drinks, we headed out to board our next seaplane flight. We had a stop enroute to drop off some passengers at another resort, this is quite normal to keep costs down. If you are lucky, like we were, you can end up with an entire seaplane to yourselves. The St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is in the Dhaalu Atoll a south westerly location from the airport. It was about forty-five minutes flight away from the Malé which makes it a convenient daytime hop from any international flight. The resort runs on “resort” time, so consequently the island runs an hour ahead of Male. This is done on purpose so that your sunset is closer to 7pm than 6. It feels a bit strange when you arrive because you immediately “lose” an hour, but then you gain it on the way back when you leave, a bit like English summertime. Nestled amidst lush rainforest and surrounded by pure white-sandy beaches on a totally exclusive private island, the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is one of the jewels in the crown amongst the St Regis properties. The warm Indian Ocean plays host to the tropical beauty and rich marine life of this peaceful, eco-conscious island. On arrival we were introduced to our butler Ali and all of us were given a refreshing coconut with straws sticking out of it, which the kids absolutely loved. We had a few welcome photographs, which was a nice personal touch, then Ali drove us to our villa, where we found four bicycles lined up outside. At the St Regis Vommuli Resort, each villa comes with bicycles marked with the villa number for guests to cycle around the island. This was great and we used the bikes every day to go to breakfast and occasionally to the main pool with the kids. There are 33 on-land and 44 over-water villas with stunning ocean or garden views from private terraces and pools. We booked a two-bedroom beach villa so both ourselves and the kids had our own separate areas. The villa is a duplex, spread over two floors, with each room having its own entrance and door key with the convenience of sharing the same plunge pool and private beach. OMG - BEST TRIP EVER!! I will start with the obvious and get it out of the way: the food/alcohol is very expenses. If you don't drink expect to spend $500 + in food (even if you have free breakfast). If you drink that number can double quick since alcohol is 6-10x due to import costs.. Now to the highlights: I have never experience such genuinely attentive staff. If you didn't smile they made it their personal mission to improve your experience. Our Butler Nazym was the best of the best. She planned everything so we didn't have to think, was always available, did very cool things like set up the room with birthday balloons, cake and bubble bath to help me celebrate. My husband and I are pick...but she still accommodated everything with a big smile on her face. The room attended Thaarim was awesome. He started to make us towel animal, I told him and by the end of the trip I had a zoo with monkeys, crocodiles and people Over the water suite was very large and well equipped. Pool and deck were amazing Ocean is super warm and you could do snorkeling right of your deck - so many beautiful fish Food was very yummy: Their Beach Barbeque was very good, Cargo and Alma were very good. T-PAN - was exceptional (you are paying French Laundry Prices, but I enjoyed it as much as French Laundry) Gym and Biking around the island was also very enjoyable. SPA was great - very good massage specialists WOULD HIGLY RECOMMEND
