Domaine des Hautes Fagnes

I had an amazing escape at the Domaine des Hautes Fagnes! The classic suite was so nice and really spacious, the spa is just amazing, and the food is fresh and local! Probably the best stay I ever had in Belgium :) I recommend this place so much, for business, couples, family or friends, or alone. It’s really great to take a break and having some relax time.

Very beautiful hotel. When we checked in we got a upgrade to a suite. After 4km walking in the Rain and a thunderstorm was this a really nice surprise. The Lady from the reception was super friendly and did her best to speak dutch. It was defenitly better than our French 😅. The room was really great. I enjoyed spending time here. In the evening we had dinner in the brasserie. Also friendly staff and good food. The hotel was located only 5 minutes from signal de Botrange. Ideal for when you want to go walking on the haute fagnes which is fabulous. Come to this hotel and you will love it as we did

Very disappointed, expected a luxury hotel. Start was not relaxing as Staff did not speak English well, i struggled to explain that we wanted to buy one extra breakfast and ask where the walking routes where. I slept really badly because of the noise (could here the neighbours) and it was too hot. No airco, too hot, smelly room. I opened both windows and got masquetoes in a room as a result. Will not come back and do not recommend.

For the prices, Domaine des Hautes Fagnes charges and the four stars they advertise, you would definitely expect much more. First of all, the bathroom was not properly cleaned with a cotton pad on the floor and a bin that still contained rubbish. Then, at the restaurant, we had to wait for around 40 minutes to get the starter and all other courses also took very long. Portions were rather small compared to other spa restaurants I have been and the food was average. The spa facilities and the reception service did not cater for the number of people present. We would have expected the hotel to be prepared for the amount of guests over an Easter weekend but instead, we had to wait everywhere to use the spa facilities, in the restaurant or the reception. On the positive side: there are really nice hikes around in the natural reserve, just 5 minutes walk from the hotel and the massage we had was also good. All in all, I would not return to Domaine des Hautes Fagnes.

Enough parking places at the parking, we could charge our car (2 charging poles for 4 cars) . Welcome at the reception was very professional, however besides to showing at the app for walking tours (that did not work), we did not receive any info about outdoor activities. Our room was quiet, clean and well maintained. Breakfast was average for a 4 star hotel. First evening we had a dinner in Brasserie, with ok food. However it took too long to have 2 course meal. The second evening we stayed in the hotel restaurant - music was too loud and more suitable for a disco than for a restaurant. Food was well prepared, small portions… but we had to wait for over an hour to get the starter. We left w/o our dessert (that was part of our pre-paid package for) as it just too long and it was too noisy. Waiters were doing a good job. Wellness is ok, having indoor & outdoor facilities. Hammam was not hot enough, you had to step out of jacuzzi to push the button to turn on the jets . We did have a nice duo massage at the wellness, this part of our stage was really amazing. Generally - it was pretty OK stay but hotel/facilities/activities are missing the finishing touch.

I have spent a lovely weekend with my partner in one of the suits. The suits are amazing with their spacious bathtub and extraordinary design. The location of the hotel is very good if you like to have nice walks in the nature and also easy to reach with a big parking. We had a breakfast in our room which was delicious and a 5 service menu at the restaurant which is also highly recommended to spend a special evening together. The wellness centre is great to relax after you’ve had a long walk outside and includes everything you need (sauna, Hannam, jacuzzi inside and outside, swimming pool etc) All in all we spent a lovely weekend and we are planning to go back in summer.
