Cameo Heights Mansion and the Vine Fine Dining Restaurant

I would highly recommend Cameo for a personalized and pampered experience. From the champagne upon arrival, to the jetted tub, to the rose on your bed, to the chocolates, to the spa robes and slippers, to the heated toilet seat and bidet, to the beautifully strung lights over the pool, to the swings under a tree, to the time capsule and bingo card. Everything is just wonderful. And don’t get me started on the food and plating. Chef is amazing. Even the heart shaped pastries were decadent. Get the couples massage too!

Don't believe any 5 star reviews post 2022. Although Tripadvisor is very good at helping make good choices, don't depend on a few 5 stars for perfection. There are many people that don't have any idea what high quality is. This was a fabulous property when original owners occupied the premises. Taste and quality are just not there anymore. A few well placed food items do not make for a perfect stay.

Sadly things have changed at Cameo Heights, which used to be our favorite romantic splurge. We planned a visit in May on our way home from Yellowstone, rerouting our trip to assure for a night of pampering before we returned home. Unfortunately we received a call the afternoon of our arrival explaining the chef had an emergency and there was no dinner service that evening. We were driving through Eastern Oregon and there was literally no place to stop and get food. We had a light breakfast because we wanted to be hungry and enjoy the wonderful meal we had experienced on previous visits. After a week of vacation and restaurant food, we were looking forward to a home cooked meal at The Vine. We checked in before we made the 40 minute drive to Walla Walla. The young receptionist asked if it was our first time and when we explained which suites we had stayed in she was not familiar with them, this seemed a little odd. After taking our luggage to our room on the top floor we noticed the scenery had changed, ALL of the orchards were gone and there were over 100 piles of bulldozed trees waiting to be burned. This was a shocking sight! We went downstairs to ask the receptionist what happened to the trees but we could not find any staff to inquiry. While downstairs we needed a snack and noticed the snack basket was pretty lackluster, granola bars, cookie packs, candy bars had been replaced with snack size and generic, Same with the ice cream, no more Haagen Daz just plain chocolate covered vanilla bars that had partially melted and refroze. These subtle changes, along with some minor housekeeping miscues, had me rather hyper critical of the direction the mansion was going and I pointed them out on my comment card. Immediately the owner responded and explained why some of the changes had occurred, he even promised to treat us to a dinner for the inconvenience. I was impressed that he cared enough to "right the wrong" of canceling our dinner and keeping us happy guests. But sadly I did not hear from him again, I tried reaching out and again he made promises he did not keep. So our quest of staying at each suite at the mansion will never happen. I don't want to discourage anyone from giving it a try but don't expect it to maintain the same of excellence.

This has been a favorite getaway of ours for almost 10 years. It's under new management and the facility and service is better than ever. The rooms and facility are luxurious, but comfortable such that we never feel out of place. We like to come for 4-5 days during the week in the winter and lounge around, never leaving the site and it works fine for that. Very romantic and cozy. We prefer upstairs bedrooms for sound as the basement rooms you might have foot steps overhead. My wife loves the English Tudor suite which is isolated at the top of the home (nobody is walking by your door). I love the French and Italian suites. We stay in the English Tudor. We have another visit planned in August and I'm already looking forward to the comfy bed and lazy mornings. And eating in the Vine? Breakfast and dinners - divine!

We had the best time at Cameo Heights! The grounds are beautiful and we loved our room! Everything was SO comfortable and so easy! From the communication prior to arriving, to the limo service( loved loved Sherry the driver!), to the amazing breakfasts and dinner, we were SO impressed! The service was top notch, the place felt homey and comfortable and Cameo Heights was the highlight of our trip! Thanks so much!

My husband and I went for a long weekend for our anniversary. The facility is so amazing and beautiful. The owner and staff make you feel very comfortable. We were given a grand tour of the beautiful mansion and the grounds. The Greek room was so elegantly decorated. Loved the good morning room service to start your day!! Our couple’s massage was fantastic!! The Vine, the in-house restaurant, is fine dining at its best!! We will definitely be back!!
