The Westin Shimei Bay Resort

The resort is really beautiful, and because the compound is big, you don’t feel like there’s a lot of people. One drawback is if you’re flying to Sanya airport you need to take a 1.5 hour taxi ride to the resort. What’s worse is the route going from hotel back to airport is blocked because of roadworks which means we had to find alternative transportation otherwise it would take double the time. I wish the hotel had mentioned this when we booked, it really inconvenience us a lot as we were travelling with family. I only realised this the day before leaving the hotel and only then I decided to change to high speed rail. Overall if I ever come back to Sanya, I would come back to this resort, but maybe without kids the next time!

There was no body wash when we first arrived the room. There was mosquitoes and insects inside the outdoor pool, looked like it wasn’t being filtered. Hotel location was very inconvenient, not much food around. Couldn’t swim at the beach because of “under current”. We were treated to coconut water when we arrived because it was late in the day. But the coconuts smelled funny like expired. Hotel staff was nice.

Very nice place. Nice beaches. Polite and friendly staff. Recommended.
