Khowarib Lodge

I stayed here as part of a tour group of 6. I really enjoyed this lodge. The tents were rustic but comfortable, the outdoor bathroom was outstanding and so much fun. The dining was excellent. We had a massive windstorm during the night which blew off my velcro curtains. Really enjoyed my stay here.

We booked two tents via a booking platform and the payment was supposed to be made via the platform. A few days before our arrival the lodge wanted us to wire the money alleging that none of our credit cards had been accepted (we paid many other hotels so the cards were totally fine). Only when we said we were going to cancel the reservation they confirmed the booking. Upon arrival we were told that they were having problems with the platform and our reservation had been canceled. We needed to show our printed bookings and the online reservation and after some complaints from the manager we were accepted. Two days after we left and having paid with credit cards , we have been contacted informing the payment did not go through which again is not true because our credit cards show the payments. Something really wrong is going on. Avoid the place

Very nicely located lodge surrounded by mountains by the river. Tent with comfortable bed, fridge, fan. Very clean. Spacious bathroom with plants inside. Terrace overlooking the mountains and the river. Hot water pool. Bar with cold drinks open all day. Very good dinners. Breakfast is a bit modest, but considering that the nearest large shop is 200 km away, it's hard to expect more. Very good service - both in the bar and during dinner or breakfast. An interesting trip to the Himba village (although our earlier visit to the Damara village was more interesting) and a trip to the surrounding wilderness - springboks, ostriches, giraffe. We had a good 2 days. I recommend.

Die einzigartige Lage hat auch uns begeistert, mehr aber noch das super freundliche Personal. An einem Abend waren wir die einzigen Gäste beim Abendessen, bekamen dafür aber ein fast sternewürdiges 3-Gänge-Menü. Am ersten Abend wurden wir überrascht, wie liebevoll man Handtücher zu Elefanten falten kann. Dann konnten wir von unserer kleinen Terasse am Hang des Rivers eine Herde Paviane beobachten. Wir waren 3-Tage dort und haben mit dem Guide Ueera eine phantastische Safari auf Wüstenelefanten und Wüstenlöwen durchgeführt. Dabei kamen wir nicht nur auf 10 m an einen ruhenden Löwen zu Fotos sowie an eine kleine Elefantenherde mit 2 Babys, Giraffen, Antilopen etc. sondern auch zum Breakfast-Stop und Lunch mit Camping-Tisch und Tischdecke (!) bewirtet. Wir wurden sozusagen rundum verwöhnt. Echt unser Highlight.

Camping situé au bord d'un canyon dont la rivière est pratiquement a sec. Quelques emplacement en terrasse, d'autres sur le plateau hyper poussiéreux. Un unique bloc de sanitaires. Électricité et eau sur la place de campement. Wifi uniquement au lodge et tres cher. Piscine, bar et restauration. Morning walk sans intérêt...

Lodge is 'Afrika' style (permanente tenten met buitenbadkamer). Rustig gelegen maar toch wat achterstallig onderhoud (zwembad was niet echt proper, handdoeken en ligstoelen versleten). Vriendelijke bediening. En hoe is het mogelijk ? In 2024 dien je nog te betalen (voucher kopen) voor de wifi !!! Natuurwandeling nabij de rivier is wel oké.
