Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort

Amazing Castle stay and stunning restoration of original architecture. The food was wonderful as well. Highly recommend. Walk the trail, have a pint by the fire, look for the albino wallaby on the island. Grab a pint at the Fitzgerald bar and enjoy the beauty.

My husband and I eloped here with the help of the people of Eloping in Ireland. Our stay here was absolutely amazing and our ceremony was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. We stayed with a few friends and family and got to take in the beauty of both the grounds and the castle. Their meals were exquisite down to the last details and the staff was warm and very helpful. Such a wonderful experience and I am grateful for the role the staff had to play in our special day.

We eloped here with a small group of family and it was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. The staff made us feel welcomed and the overall ambiance was really incredible. Nothing but good things to say. Keep an eye out for the albino wallaby!

Getting a ferry to your hotel is a sure way to start the trip well. Beautiful Castle and grounds, lovey and attentive staff. Our rooms were superb, exactly what you would want when staying at a castle hotel and I have to say the most beautiful toilet and sink! I was delighted with the gluten free afternoon tea, bread was dry but no where seems to be able to get gluten free bread right at afternoon teas, cocktails delicious and the dinner was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. In fairness the only downside to our trip was we were expecting an a la carte breakfast menu and there was a buffet on in the morning with a delay on food, we had to get up numerous times from our table to see if some of the food options, particularly eggs had been brought out. When we brought this to the attention of the reception staff on check out they apologised and said there was a wedding taking place and the buffet was set up to accommodate them but that we could have ordered a la carte if we wished, unfortunately this was not the case as there were no menus on display and when we were being seated after giving our room number we were told it was a buffet breakfast, which we hate, so that was disappointing. The smoothie shots were a nice touch though :) So minus a wedding party ruining your breakfast Waterford Castle is a beautiful spot and should absolutely be added to your 'must stay' list.

Firstly, let me start with the positives. We were there over Christmas 2024 and it was beautiful. Castle was clean, decorations & Christmas tree all stunning. Thats where it ends. We were there for a family meal and it was very disappointing. I found the venison burger very dry and in truth, tastless. On numerous occasions we had to order the same drink up to 4 times. Other members of our party found the same issue. Some orders came out wrong. Our party was large (15 adults) so mistakes can happen & this js very understandable. It was very irrating to continiously order the same drink repeatedly. Service was ok (aside from the drinks order). Food was poor. When one of our Party complained about all of the above over email the response was exceptionally rude & very dismissive. They took none of the complaints on board & were very defensive. We will absolutely not be returning. I would advise to stay well clear of this hotel. I never leave reviews but the experience of this place makes it a necessity.

To say that our experience at Waterford Castle was magical would be an understatement! Every detail of our daughter’s wedding and stay was flawless, lovely and memorable. Gillian orchestrated the perfect experiences with the amazing staff at the castle. The ceremony, dinner, high tea, golf and skeet shooting and Welcome Party were so stress free, fun and were just perfection. We will never forget our time there and look forward to returning to the castle and its staff that feel like family!!! Don’t forget to find the wallaby!! So cute!!
