Howard Johnson by Wyndham Waukegan Great Lakes

Do NOT stay here, especially if this is for a Navy graduation. The reviews are either being deleted or faked. It is not clean and not adequate and this is NOT what you should have as your first impression to the Navy. There was no internet outside of the lobby which is a problem and the TV didn't work. The front desk literally said, "what do you want us to do about it?". There was no hot water and there was mold and scum in the bathroom. Several outlets did not work or sparked. There were rusted items and the backboard of the bed collapsed when we put our bag on the bed. There are also no elevators, only stairs. The walls are PAPER thin and we could hear children crying down the fall as if they were in our room. No drawers either.. Look, do NOT stay here. We checked in and an hour later had to leave. Not only was the front desk incredibly dismissive, but they were argumentative with other guests. I continued to empathize with the young man, but I couldn't safely stay here. The cleanliness, the bugs on the bed, and the violation of promised service (working wifi) broke our agreement. The gentleman is claiming we will still be charged, but we will be arguing under the circumstance that as need a full refund. We aren't picky. We have stayed at "cheap" and questionable places before.. this was beyond anything else.

Very nice inside, parking a little challenging at times. Need elevator especially for individuals with bumb knees

The cleanliness was average/ good No breakfast is provided outside of banana nut muffins/oj/apple juice/water No parking. A lot of transit people living in them Overpriced. Should be listed as $59 a night.

Wonderful location, very professional staff , I would love to visit there someday! Very affordable price, I did get a discount as well, the restaurant next door was very convenient! The room was comfortable, the breakfast was wonderful, very quiet and very clean!

Great stay as always. We go on vacation every other year. We stay at this specific Howard Johnson because it’s nice and the staff is knowledgeable and and always nice… The heath manager is caring and always smiling and speaks every time she see you.

We were recommended this hotel on the website for the Navy as we were traveling for our son’s Graduation from Boot Camp. Upon arrival our room had hairs from the prior guest behind the bathroom door. (Hair was not from head… if you catch my meaning) there was no cold water in the bathroom sink. The bed was so uncomfortable that I had to go and purchase a gel mattress pad so that my wife who has joint issues could get any sleep. Overall this was not a pleasant experience.

This Hotel is extremely close to the Great Lakes Base and within minutes of eating and shopping places. Some food places are within walking distances. A Safe and Clean Hotel. We were among other Military Families going to the Graduation. I would stay there again if I ever visit Chicago.

The hotel overall was good when it came to service, cleanliness and the look of the room. However, they need to invest in new covers since we found stains on one of them , they probably didn’t wash out in the machine. They should expand their breakfast options too. Blueberry muffins aren’t a full breakfast, nor accesible for some who may have gluten allergies, or muffins may not suit their tastes. The surrounding area is okay, however you will need a car to get around since you’re near a very large road.

I enjoyed my first time visit and especially enjoyed the Navy celebration and the location of the hotel. I appreciate the discount the hotel offered for the Navy Boot Camp Graduation. I really enjoyed visiting beautiful Chicago and the location of Waukegan in distance to the Windy City.
