Lost River Hostel

My wife and I were really looking forward to staying here because we love to hike and we like to try new things. We purposely stayed in a room inside a house that had a private bathroom so we didn't have to deal with bugs in the night. When we got to our room my wife checked the bed and there were a dozen bugs nesting in the bed as well as mouse poop. Needless to say we did not stay there and they refuse to give us our money back even though there were special circumstances. They were not interested in the video and pictures I took of the bugs as well. My recommendation is stay away!

I was grossly overcharged and got a refund for the unrecognized charge to my account. Very dirty. Poorly managed. Many of the people who work there (FOR FREE) are really down on their luck, even homeless. That means that there is often no one interested in doing dishes and laundry. Guests are told they will help with dishes after dinner and are sometimes left to do them alone. The food is unhealthy and poorly cooked. I'd ask what's for dinner before booking. Also, if your sheets are dirty, stand your ground to get clean ones. I was not able to. Again, homeless people were tasked with changing my sheets. This is not a true work-share situation. I saw many, many negative reviews on other sites AFTER booking there.

We stayed in the birds nest it had a great view and was the perfect place if you just need a reset we will definitely be back!
