Bawe Island Zanzibar

By far the best hotel we have stayed at. We had the most incredible experience , you get your own butler who is at your service with anything you require. Ask for Beno, he was great! The place makes you feel like you’re in the Maldives with the incredibly styled and spacious Villas. If you’re looking for a quiet destination with beautiful surroundings and great service, this is the place for you. The staff are happy and go above and beyond. The only minor downside is that everything on the island is very expensive including excursions off/around the island, but it is expected in such a beautiful private island.

Everything was perfect from the service to everything. Especially our buttler given was very perfect and even rest of staffs. An indian guy Rashid was too good at the restaurant

From the accommodations and event space to the food, ambiance, and personalized touches , everything was flawless. You truly made us feel at home and created a beautiful environment for us to celebrate such a meaningful milestone. Our guests were equally impressed and continue to talk about the experience. I would like to specifically thank Fernando Ayesh for orchestrating between me and the other staff while attending to all my demands which kept changing but he was always accommodating to the constant changes, Mr Preetam the food and beverage manager for going above and beyond to accommodate our dining and drinks preferences and even designing the event program for us. Our personal butler Mr Anwar was so kind and responsive. A very special mention and deep appreciation go to Chef Mr. Giovani, who executed the buffet dinner as if it were a spectacular show. The food was not only beautifully presented but absolutely delicious, the festive menu was truly five star and left a lasting impression on everyone. We visited Bawe Island for our honeymoon after spending a week on Safari. I wish we never left Safari. I was shocked when I found out this place was a 5 star resort. Every service person was clueless. It felt like everyone's first day on the island and they had no idea what was going on. They ran out of everything we wanted and when we expressed our frustration, they responded with "I apologize for the inconvenience." While they do have air conditioning in the rooms, don't be fooled. Our room was never below 80 degrees. We couldn't use the private pool in our villa because the winds were too strong. The food was not great. And if we found something we liked and ordered it the next day, it was different. No consistency. They provide bikes. They are not comfortable to begin with and ours were moved on our second day and we never saw them again. We thought about booking an excursion, but didn't trust that anyone knew what they were doing so we opted not to. Overall, this was not an ideal way to end our honeymoon. I would not recommend Bawe Island if you're looking for even a hint of customer service.

Bawe Island May 2025 We spent 11 nights on Bawe Island near Zanzibar - and it was wonderful. The island is a jewel in the Indian Ocean and can certainly hold its own with a Maldives island. Fantastic gardens surrounded by crystal-clear water. The reality fully corresponds to the description. All villas have their own pool and garden, are huge, luxuriously furnished and always perfectly maintained. TOP housekeeping, thanks to Flora! A wonderful pool area with an excellent beach bar, where it was a pleasure to enjoy the sunset or a cocktail after dinner. The food - always a la carte - was very good, fresh, varied and well presented. Thanks for the service to Elisabeth and Margaret 😊 The spa is definitely worth a visit - atmosphere and treatments - very good Throughout the resort, all the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming Our personal butler - we would rather call her a personal assistant - Felicia really took care of everything and read our every wish from our lips! Perfect Anyone looking for peace, luxury and warmth on an island paradise is sure to find it on Bawe Island. What you should know: Access to the beach and the sea is only possible from the pool area and, as everywhere in East Africa, is heavily dependent on the tides and the associated tidal range.

Best experience ever in my life. Our personal guide Fadhila, was clear, friendly and very kind. Compliments to the restaurant manager. Every dish served at the main restaurant is from top quality. Everything is well arranged. You pay a more than average price for staying here, but believe me the quality of service you will exceeds this.
