Very cool place for staying

We have had the pleasure of staying here a couple of times over the past three weeks. This business is all about quality service and providing a very comfortable stay. From check-in thru to check-out, the experience was 100% plus. Front office: Check-in/out was a straight forward exercise with professional friendly staff. Unit/accommodation: The unit was large, all expected amenities for a motel unit. The bed was comfortable and a good nights sleep and the area is exceptionally quiet, which also helps. Housekeeping: On both occaissions we have stayed (in different units) they have been spotlessly clean. Our thanks to housekeeping staff. This motel is part of a larger complex encompassing a restaurant bar (Shamrock Hotel, MacKay), which provides great service and meals. Seperate review. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for great service, spotlessly clean unit and access to a good meal and maybe a glass of wine or two.

Will never be staying at the shamrock again and would not recommend anyone to stay here. The room still had rubbish in the bin and under the bed. The Staff were very abusive for being late out of the room. Yet they failed to realise they were dealing with a very sick person who was laying on the floor yelling for help (this is when the rubbish under the bed was noticed). Couldnt get to the door quick enough as had to get of the floor first because no1 would come in to help they'd just continued to knock and then were abusive once the door was opened. Would hate to think If it was an elderly person having a serious medical episode as help just stood at the door and the manager couldn't careless..

On our yearly long haul to the Far North, Mackay is always a stopping off point. Having found the Shamrock Gardens Motel, sometimes I think I should start spending more than just a night here. It's convenient passing through either north or south; has a great pub next door with a great bistro; the motel is not brand new but it's clean, comfortable, beds are great, and includes a continental breakfast in your room. My only annoyance with any accommodation provider, is over time, replace plastic kettles with stainless steel ones. Some guests on our last visit decided they wanted to yell and wake everyone up at midnight. Hope it stays this way.

I booked this motel as a last minute change of plans. It is a real gem of a place!! The room is aged, but in great condition. It is more spacious than the average motel room. SUPER clean!! Large cupboard, great kitchenette with electric frypan, spacious bathroom and comfy beds. Breaky left in the room was a lovely surprise!! There was yoghurt, juice, cereal and toast and condiments. Absolute bargain for Only $133!!! We had a little bit of noise from the pub, but the rooms block noise well. Meals were great!!

The food was great, but it was the outstanding service that was the pinnacle of the visit. The weather was obscenely wet, but the place was still busy on a Tuesday night which is a credit to the venue. It would be a nice location for lunch or a function. Lovely traditional pub meal, good portion sizes and presented well. The service was professional, warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Very happy with our overnight stay here. The motel is just off the main drag into Mackay yet is so quiet as it is set back behind the popular, stylish pub/hotel where we had a tasty, good-value meal only about 30 steps from our room. We were in a studio unit for 3 that was spacious with a lovely modern, well-equipped kitchenette, plenty of bench and storage space, a small dining table inside as well as one on the little terrace out the back, bordering the pleasant pool area. The bathroom was also spacious with heaps of bench space, hair dryer, clean towels etc. There was also a modern washing machine and dryer. It was a bonus to have Continental breakfast supplies included in the price - bread for toasting, spreads, cereal, yoghurt and juice. Highly recommend this well-run, quiet and well laid out motel complex.

For a motel attached to a pub it was very quiet. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Having the continental breakfast in with the price of the room was a great bonus. The garden and pool looked lovely and well maintained. The pub was only a hop, skip and jump away and the staff and food were great.

The room was nice and big. Bed was comfortable. The shower was lovely, powerful and hot. Continental breakfast was also nice. The motel was a little bit far from the centre of town, but it's a quick drive in. Overall, it's a nice place and reasonably priced.
