Wood Hall Hotel & Spa

Not Worth It Wooden spoon for this hotel. Way too expensive for a room stuck next to the lift shaft, with constant noise from plumbing above. Staff didn’t want to hear about it. Yes, the bedding, food, and service are decent — but if you can’t sleep, who cares? Wouldn’t stay again.

Me and hubby had a really lovely stay at this hotel booked for a couple of days and which it had been longer. Driving alone the driveway with the hall in the distance with rolling countryside surrounding it went knew we were in for a treat all the staff made us feel very welcome. Everyone was so friendly a typical Yorkshire welcome with a smile. The food was very tasty, with lots of nice choices for breakfast and dinner and we chose to dine in the bar the first night and restaurant on our second night. . The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and feels warm and welcoming.. ideal for a trip into Harrogate or Wetherby of which we did both with recommendations from the staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and I would love to come back for another stay, for longer next time and to take advantage of the spa and a walk around the grounds.

The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very tasty, with lots of nice choices for breakfast and dinner. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and I would love to come back for another stay.

Really disappointing experience. We checked the website and social media ahead of a family walk / bike ride to Woodhall hoping to sit out and have a drink and some lunch. Something we’ve done before. We arrived at the front entrance and a member of staff (I presume a waiter) came outside and without even a hello barked “Not today. There is a wedding” and turned on his heel and went back inside to reception. We were stunned at his behaviour and rudeness. I decided to go in and give some feedback about the fact that no where is it stated that they were closed for a wedding and that the member of staff needed to work on his customer service. We’d had a journey and the kids were so disappointed. Now I have no issue with a venue closing for a wedding but please let people know so they don’t make a wasted journey and ensure customer facing staff are trained in customer service. A simple “sorry guys I’m afraid we have a wedding today and we are therefore closed to public.” would have landed so much better. I went inside to relay this feedback to the staff on reception and the General Manager did attempt to placate us by letting us know we could get a drink outside the spa area but after the treatment we’d received from the waiter, (who chose to keep his head down and remain rude and ignorant) whilst I was relaying my feedback, we chose to take our custom elsewhere. It was evident they were not interested in my customer feedback. More staff came to the desk and they were all clearly more concerned with the wedding and getting me out of the way so I gave up. Lesson? Don’t bother again. They don’t care. I’ll stick to Rudding Park. A venue who always welcome us with open arms and amazing customer service.

Ellie and I visited the stunning Wood Hall in April for an Easter getaway. The Hall is set in rolling hills and the location offers a calm base for any weary travellers. Upon entering the hotel, we were met by Ellis who's warm smile welcomed us in as she conducted a swift and troublefree check in. We moved up to the room which was well kept, clean and far from tired. Once we had dropped our bags off, we explored the venue sampling the the offering of black sheep on the terrace. Their IPA was a great accompaniment to the sun and tranquility that the terrace offered... I'm not sure if they can contract sunshine at Wood Hall, but I am certain they would try given the chance. After our first night, we came down for breakfast and were extremely well looked after by the breakfast manager sampling the continental and cooked elements of their menu. Both were very good, and if I had to criticize, then I would add that the salmon and poached egg was minimal, but upon reviewing the menu, I had chosen a low calorie option. Either way, I filled the void with another croissant which isn't the worst compromise if you ask me. We headed to the spa and tried out a pre booked massage with Katie. The massage was thorough and removed any final thoughts of stress that were lurking. I think it was well priced and well worth investigating. We then moved through to the pool, steam room and jacuzzi - all fairly well kept. The steam room needs a little bit of tlc, but it won't ruin your trip. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend visiting Wood Hall. Further, the whole team honestly made us feel like nothing was too much to ask. Old style service and class! From first entering the hotel the staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely wanted to help with bringing luggage to our room and answering any queries we had . Could ring reception for any queries and answered immediately . The lunch menu was amazing ! The Eton Mess was a work of art - simply delicious
