Clean, comfortable bed, and all the necessities, all in working order. Laundry access was a nice bonus. Thank you for a great stay!

This is a one level Motel, conveniently located on the highway. It is oriented away from the road, so it was very quiet. We were able to park right by our door. Our room (no. 12) was in the top corner, and was massive. Bathroom and kitchenette were clean, and the beds were comfortable. There was a free basic laundry facility, but it was not busy and we were able to get our laundry done right away. This is not a location for walking and exploring Whangarei, but it is a very short drive to the waterfront where there are many restaurants and a lovely park to take a walk.

An outstanding stay. The desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are newly renovated and clean. Good stock of yea and coffee in the room. The hotel is quiet and has guest laundry. The use of the machines is free and you can buy washing powder there. Stores and restaurants are within walking distance.

The property has been recently renovated so everything was fresh, clean and new. The place was full and not surprised with the new standard of rooms, makes for one of the best properties in town. I will definitely be staying here when I come back through for work.

BK’S Pohutukawa Lodge has just reopened after an extensive renovation and WOW! Look no further for accomodation in Whangarei. I booked as a last minute thing as I wasn’t expecting to stay in Whangarei the night however, it was the best surprise. Staff were warm and welcoming, easy access and parking, great free Wi-Fi with smart TV. The room was impeccably clean with brand new beds, bedding, furnishings, bathroom, kitchen and flooring! They really have done a great job and I will be adding it to my regular rotation of business stops 100%.

We found the unit tired and in need of maintenance. The brown carpet was dirty and stained and the kitchen unit could do with updating. We wouldn’t recommend this motel as it is not up to the standard of other BK’s motels that we have stayed in previously.

A worn and tired lodge. The cupboards in the kitchen were loose and the bathroom cupboard was chipped and holes in the flooring. Only one bedside table and lamp. Not worth the money and can't recommend it att all.

Convenient location, soundproof room with door closed, and a spacious disability bathroom. This is an older but well kept motel with excellent hosts who take bookings over the phone. This is our second stay here in the past 3 weeks. It's very well priced with parking at the door with easy wheeled access into the unit. A small kitchenette with fridge, jug, toaster, microwave, dishes. Reverse cycle air conditioning. Be hard to beat for the price. Table and chairs provided outside rooms.

I stayed three nights for business in the larger unit, all of the decent places in town were full. The smell in the unit was a combination of stale cigarettes and sour milk. I purchased a scented candle to burn the whole time I was in the unit because it was really off putting. The drawer in the bathroom vanity had smears of toothpaste and hair, the bedside table had hair and dust. On the first day my dishes were cleaned and put away (comprising of a tea cup, a wine glass, and a plate). On the second day they were not. The bin in the kitchen was emptied but the bathroom one was not. An upgrade is needed, as well as perhaps some retraining of the housekeepers.
