Wheeler on the Bay Lodge and Marina

While planning our honeymoon I was looking for someplace new to stay and Google suggested this one.. After reading the wonderful reviews I decided to book it, and I am sure happy I did. What a wonderfully charming place. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and that room is dialed. The tub has powerful jets. The bed is the softest most comfortable one we have ever slept on. The view... laying in bed eating breakfast looking out at the lake thru all the windows, it was beautiful and relaxing. We decided to get some groceries and barbeque out on the deck one night... I read my room manual and it said they had all of the supplies we needed we just had to ask, they did, they had a cute little kit for us to use. When we forgot butter they were nice enough to give us a stick of their own. Martha and Gordon are WONDERFUL hosts. We felt welcomed and comfortable. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL, the sunsets from the deck were awesome. When we needed things I felt like they were happy to help not annoyed or bothered like you get in bigger places. If you are into watching movies they have a huge collection to choose from and games in the office you can use. The rooms were so well equipped with anything we needed down to salt and pepper. Plates, bowls, cups, silverware they had it all. Every time we were like it would be nice if they had... we opened a drawer and there it was :) even a deck of cards with a cribbage board, which we love to play I would stay here again anytime. We had a spectacular time. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they use Charmin toilet paper. I know it's picky but that is one of my biggest complaints when staying in a hotel usually the TP is 1 ply junk not here. The paper towels were bounty, the plates and bowls were dixie. There were even Clorox wipes under the sink just in case. This room was so beautiful peaceful and just wonderfully laid out. We wanted to stay a few more nights :) But work was calling :)

Extra comfortable bed after a day of cycling and it comes with a great scenic surrounding and friendly service. While restaurants in the area were all closed save for weekend, there are some two miles down the road. Wish I could stay here again sometime…definitely would if I find myself in the area again.

Clean, homely, scenic, and the owners are super sweet! My family has only stayed a night but it was a wonderful experience. We got to have dinner outside by the water, and observe the local fauna - swallows, crows, bald eagles, and martins. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the local atmosphere

We went for a quick getaway in April, and stayed in the Sunset Room. What a beautiful weekend! The Sunset Room does not disappoint! The deck was nice, but it was still cold enough that we preferred the view from the bed. Everything was clean and inviting! Watching the birds and the otters was a delight! We will definitely stay again!

The wife and I stumbled onto this hotel through a train ride. We were already staying at a historic hotel in the area, and love old hotels. We entered the hotel to look around as we walked through there wasn't anyone in the place we were in the dining area when a woman entered the room and made it clear we were NOT WELCOME THERE at all in an extremely passive aggressive way informed us that the place was full and she didn't have time to give us a tour with a I'm so much better than you attitude and I don't have time for the likes of you doing everything short of physiclly pushing us out the the door as she asked If we got off the train and stating the door should have been locked ( presumably to keep the likes of people like us out) . As other reviewers have stated this person ( presumably the owner) is RUDE and UNWELCOMING and we will NOT every give this person a dime and recomend people STAT FAR AWAY from this hotel. There are hundreds of places like this to stay in the area and it would be best to let this person enjoy her hotel by her self.

Delightfully quiet location, great owners and comfortable accommodations! The Lodge is right at the edge of Nehalem Bay. Gorgeous, peaceful views. We were in the Otter Room, which had a little balcony overlooking the water, fridge, microwave, sink, and kitchen basics, shower, and queen and twin beds. When you check in you get a selection of breakfast items, and a snack. :-) There is also a huge DVD library. We loved the free kayaks, and had a sunset paddle. The town is tiny, but has a couple of good food options very short walk away. Martha and Gordon were really lovely, hospitable and caring! About 30 mins drive to Cannon Beach, and other scenic areas. Bit larger town Nehalem only 5 minute drive.
