Look - yes, it's an older hotel. Not sure if there better options in Rapids, but I doubt it. If you're looking for a 5 star experience, this isn't it, but it's not as bad as many of the recent reviews. Our room was older, but clean. I really liked the indoor pool area, harks back to a different era, kind of nostalgic. Had an outdoor area to get some sun too. The breakfast was homemade, better than a typical buffet. Location made everything walkable, a couple bars we liked and the Rafters baseball game. They did tack on a $10 charge to what I was quoted by Orbitz. I asked, she said it was for internet, parking, the breakfast - fine but should have been disclosed. The hotels best days were clearly decades ago but all in all it did the job

Worst stay ever! First our room keys did not work, then after unpacking, the air conditioner didn’t work. We got a new room on the opposite side of the hotel and had to squeeze 4 people in a king bed because it was all they had. When we went to switch to double queen the next night, they gave us keys to someone else’s room! We went back down, got a new room and the air wouldn’t even turn on! Finally, they found a room for us with a working air conditioner. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and my wine had dead bugs in it. Thankfully they took that off the bill. The manager did little to compensate the terrible stay. I definitely tried and she still made us pay for the stay. We would never stay here again!!

We made a wedding block of 25 people for a $20 discount. My aunt was looking at online sites and discovered they could get the same rooms for $70 off. She called the hotel thinking it was a mistake and asked if true, what was the point of the reservation blocks and why should they go through the hotel? The person laughed at her and said she shouldn't. When I called to express my displeasure, I had to try three times, then when I did get a person, she hung up on me.

We stayed here as a team for a large state level softball tournament. We were trying to stay at a place together as a team that had a fun, safe, clean environment. We were return customers for a softball tournament that our large club with multiple teams always plays at. This place was not what we were hoping for or remembered! We called ahead to request an early check in due to game times during the normal check in time. We were told over the phone that they would accommodate early check in and our room would be ready at the time we requested. We were actually told that our room was already pre-assigned and was currently ready and waiting for us. When we arrived we were told that our room was not ready. We were told that it could be hours before our room was ready and that there was nothing the hotel management could do. Other people in our group had a confirmation for a 2 queen room and were given a 1 King room. Again, they were told that there was nothing the hotel management could do to fix the problem. When we finally got to check in, the room was dirty, the bedding had hair all over the sheets and pillows, the bathroom was dirty looking and run down. It took them another 45 minutes to send someone to our room to change the bedding. Luckily our game was delayed due to rain or we would have been late. Hotel management and staff were very unaccommodating and rude. The experience was very stressful and we will NEVER stay here again!

Filthy and run down. Broken furniture, dirty carpets, layers of dust on walls and bed skirts. Shower had soap residue from the prior stay. The whole place smells like an air freshener covered ashtray. Will never stay again. Unknown splatter on the wall. Just gross.

We recently stayed at your hotel on Saturday night April 20-21, 2024. We woke up Sunday morning to no running water. We called the front desk and got the run around saying it was a water main break and that the water will be on shortly. OK no big deal. Waited and waited still no water. Called again, was told it was going to be 2 more hours. We had an obligation we needed to get to so we couldn't wait any longer. Couldn't even wash our face or brush our teeth no water in the hotel anywhere. Went to front desk and politely asked for a partial refund at the very least. Was told that due to this being out of their control that they were not going to offer refunds. Asked to speak to a manager and he/she hid in his/her office and instead let a 18 year old female deal with managers issues. Left our name and number to be contacted by the owner or another manager and they have yet to address this major issue. We paid you to provide us with two essential services one being a bed to sleep in and two a place to shower and get ready for the day. You failed to provide the second part and are unwilling to provide reimbursements?? I called the city of Wisconsin Rapids Monday morning and they were unaware of any water main break so this was obviously an issue on YOUR end. Your lack of accepting responsibility over this issue is extremely alarming. This is what insurance is for. Don't give us the runaround blaming the city of Wisconsin Rapids for your lack of proper maintenance on your facilities! By the way we are STILL waiting for a call back on this issue!

We were in Rapids for a family visit who had recently moved to Rapids. We've been in more modern and fancier places, but being from a papermill town this was a great reminder of where I came from. This used to be the papermill empire. We were on the 5th floor of the main building, the room with 2 queens was spotless and perfectly painted and decorated. The whole property was beautiful, no ragged carpet no scraped paint. This place has been meticulously maintained and cared for. The staff was fantastic. The only recommendation is to repair a few of the pool chairs. This is a beautiful historic hotel. Now that I found this place, I might visit more often.

The stay went well. I thought the room was a little dated. Beds were good and pillows were comfortable. The heater I don’t think worked to well, it maintained a good temperature but could not get it warmer. Front desk was lacking a little. Clean exterior and the garbages inside could have been taken care of more.

Pillows were nice. Bed too hard for me but partner liked it. Rooms very spacious and functional. Liked the two separated sinks (different rooms). Lighting in main room could be brighter. Place has already seen its "hay days" with the unfortunate turn of their main industry closures. Can not recommend the Whitney restaurant for breakfast. Easy to walk to the local rec center and a near by restaurants. Pool a good size and gym decent.
