A great Independent Hotel in a small country town with lots of Independent shops (and even a small Cinema) The Full Breakfast I had was easily the best this year. Dinner in the restaurant was also very good Staff were helpful and friendly. Room 9 was clean, tidy and spacious with a very comfy King size bed. Would definitely return, Lots of places to go nearby and for views to the West, overlooking the River Severn and towards the Forest of Dean are spectacular. Suggest the Tyndale Monument and the Car Park at far end of the road to Stinchcombe Golf Club on a clear day

My wife and I recently hiked the Cotswold Way, and we stayed here on the fifth night of our hike. It was a perfectly serviceable experience, but one lacking the warmth and dimension of some of the other accommodations we experienced during our hike. Where other places we stayed seemed inviting and welcoming, the Swan was more perfunctory in its customer service approach. Unlike other pubs/inns where we stayed, the Swan did not offer a complementary hot breakfast--just a continental breakfast with cereals, juices and toast. And, despite being a free house, it had only two real ales on cask. The room where we stayed was very nice--well appointed, clean and, by the standards of the UK, quite spacious.

Great bar food, ideal for hungry walkers. Breakfast had good choices but was pretty busy and chaotic with only one member of staff. Friendly welcome and delighted to find our bags in the room waiting for us. Newly redecorated room was fresh and clean. Lovely views across the village. The hotel is clearly going through an update and so the hallways on the way to our room were a bit cluttered and untidy with boxes and a tumble dryer.

Pros: -Excellent location in lovely town, easy to access from Cotswold Way -Comfortable room and bathroom with beautiful views -Fantastic continental breakfast and friendly breakfast team Cons: -Common areas are worn and clearly used as storage -Reception staff helpful but seem frustrated they have to be there -Dinner quite overcooked

There was a lot of work going on which I imagine is part of an upgrading programme although, with the exception of no WiFi in our room, that was not an issue. The room was a decent size, comfortable bed, good shower and a pleasant view. We opted to eat in the bar (good bar team) and enjoyed two pleasant meals. It turned out that we were on the light breakfast rate but as that included porridge and more we were happy enough.

The place itself is a nice setting and I can’t fault the staff who were very attentive and polite. However when it came to the food the leg of lamb that I thought it was going to be turned out to be 3 small slices of dry pieces of lamb, the vegetables were bland with no seasoning and the potatoes were ok. I would have given this three stars but then the bill came and it was £103 for three of us and the service charge on top which isn’t ideal. We had starters and a main and no pudding. A real shame because again the staff were spot on but the food really let it down and for that price, I could go to Toby Carvery for cheaper and more bang for your buck as well as tasting better.

We visited the not too far away Bristol Aerospace and then spent 2 nights at the Swan Hotel. Our stay was for dinner B&B which was great value. Our 1st night was Sunday and we both had roast beef. It was delicious with loads of fresh veggies. Great beer too and very friendly staff. Our room was comfy and warm. And we enjoyed a long walk on the Monday morning followed by a wander around the little town. Our dinner by the fire finished the visit off very nicely. Fish and chips were gorgeous. Thank you for a lovely stay xx

Really nice stay, stayed here with two friends.We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night, the food was really nice. Mine and my friends room were really nice with a lovely high spec shower. Breakfast was nice. Staff were helpful, chatty, and friendy. Would reccomend.

Booked a table in the bar for 12pm …. Always book the bar , it’s got more atmosphere. Picked the table right next to the log fire , very cosy … Lots of free tables but soon started to fill up … Menu choice very good , and very well priced . Coffee excellent
