Trailborn Surf & Sound

Such a great stay at this totally new and renovated resort just steps from the beach on one side and super fun activities on the sound side (plus a secret beach area where we had the entire beach on the Sound to ourselves). The rooms had nice touches like a kettle to make my own coffee and tea, a fridge to store all my snacks & beverages, a retro Bluetooth radio plus brand new bathrooms and really comfortable beds. We had signature craft cocktails and charcuterie at Bar Duna and a tasty lunch at the pool bar Blockade Surf Bar. Breakfast and dinner in La Duna Paradiso with seating on the outdoor patio was delicious and beautiful way to start/end the day. All in all- a fantastic stay - we will definitely come back!

There is a horrid smell and the carpet in the hall right outside our room (6th floor) is wet and stained to our door with who knows what. There are multiple commercial fans in the hall to address this. They said nothing about it when we checked in. Absolutely nothing. One of the elevators makes a sound like it’s scraping against something and jostles a huge amount when it scrapes. There are hvac filters just sitting in a box by the elevator that are soiled badly. On a previous stay, they were doing commercial pressure washing on the building that was spraying all over the pool and the surroundings. Wrong. The shower has a half door so water leaks out. I don’t find it trendy. The outside is great. It’s the only thing that’s great. No one has offered a different room or discount of any kind. Said our relative could be on the same floor and then had an excuse when we arrived as to why that couldn’t happen. I will find a newer hotel that isn’t falling apart on the inside. They don’t seem to care. It’s disrespectful and wrong.

Robert and Helen helpful at the front desk. We have been coming here each summer for almost a decade. The staff is eager to be helpful and the new decor is nice. The instant coffee leaves something to be desired when we used to have K cups in years past. The AC in the room eventually cooled it off but was noisy/rattly we had to cut it off when watching tv and its heat up again. The AC in the lobby, restrooms and restaurant need to be improved. I realize it was July, but we have been coming every July and it has never been that stifling. Love the beach chairs and towels. Overall, very nice, just need to work on a few things to make it comparable to what guests have experienced under the Blockade Runner.

Nice hotel! Great drinks and food. They need to offer free black coffee in the lobby. Had to wait 10-15 minutes for a cup of black coffee and charged $5.00 for it.

This was a very nice resort. Great location and calm beach front area. All of the staff was very friendly and we had a beautiful and relaxing vacation!

Nice renovation of the rooms. The hospitality is lacking a little from the previous ownership. We also didn't get our room serviced for two days but they did refresh the towels at our request. Overall, still our favorite place in Wrightsville Beach.
