Fanli Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street)

Great hotel and also great price. Even though it was difficult for us to find it in the first place (you have to climb some stairs to find it, and with heavy luggage it was even more difficult), the hotel was very nice, with big and clean rooms, nice shower and cleaning service. The rooftop offered an amazing view. It’s location is also great, right in front of the city’s food market.

For 192元 per night, you really cant’t go wrong, though you’ll have to be in shape because you need to climb about 40 steps to get there. Once you ascend the first set of steps, turn left at the landing and continue all the way until the end. The staff were excellent and can be contacted via WeChat. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant overlooks the town, which with all the lights, is a really nice sight However, it’s more of an available space because the small counter there is not manned, though I expect you could message them if you required service. One other thing, Pantao Lu - the street on which this hotel is located, had 7 power cuts (potentially more than I was unaware of while outside) during my four nights, which even required a huuuuuge truck to be parked in front of the building next door to supply “extra” electricity. I expect these power cuts happen a lot during the tourist season simply because of the number of bikes being charged on Pantao Lu. The following is a summary: Only two pillows, as opposed to four No tea bags/coffee Have to climb lots of stairs Constant power cuts Poor WiFi with intermittent connectivity No gyms in the area (not specific to the hotel but need in mind if you wanna workout, because you simply can’t get one in Yangshuo haha) Excellent staff Very budget friendly Superb location, like 100 meters to 西街 Abundant access to bike rentals if needed (I walked further because I wanted to rent a mountain bike) Rooftop “space” is perfect for sole 串 and beer ;) We have to balance cost against service, right? But excluding the power cuts, which were not specific to the hotel, though still hella annoying, I would rate this place as excellent value for money. I have rated the amenities as 3/5 simply because it is listed as having a restaurant but it is actually simply a usable space.

Great location, close by to most attractions and shops n restaurants..just across the street for the night market area. Bit tricky to find the entrance but people around the area knows the hotel to help you out. The design is very artistic! Helpful front desk staff

The room we stayed in was great, very stylish, and the location was very close to the town. There were two small issues with the room. The bathroom compartment had translucent walls which let light through, so when somebody went to the toilet in the middle of the night, the automatic light came on and illuminated the whole room. The toilet in the pictures is a Japanese autotoilet, but in reality it's just a manual toilet with no special features.

Split duplex room near roof. Upper and lower levels separated by a narrow spiral staircase. The The upper floor contains a king bed, air conditioning unit and large balcony. Balcony opens out to expansive view of Yangshuo town, Xijie and karst topography. Lower floor has a clothes cabinet, tea set and kettle. The bathroom is also on lower section. Bathroom is equipped with a non slip floor in the shower cubicle that has a partial glass partition. A very secluded unit which sits above the fifth floor restaurant. Perhaps a little inconvenient that toilet/bathroom are separated from bedroom, but pretty good value considering the low tariff (only 120 RMB per night).
