Occidental Marco Polo

This review would have been a 4 but for my wife and I being ill for the last 2 days due to the food. The hotel itself is good and the pool area is nice. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We are going home today and on Saturday evening we ate some undercooked turkey. Yesterday my wife was ill with sickness etc and I became ill last night. We went down to complain at reception yesterday at 8.30 am and were told to take a seat and wait for the general manager. Forty minutes later, he arrived and we showed him a photo of the undercooked food and explained that we informed a waiter who said he'd talk to the chef. The general manager didn't seem too bothered and made us feel as though it was our fault. He said that we should have asked the chef for it to be well done. Surely the expectation should be that a piece of chicken or turkey be fully cooked!? He also stated that it could have been that we had eaten a bad piece of fruit! Ironically, a few hours later I received a knock at the door with a covered fruit platter being delivered, I guess by way of apology! This slightly spoiled our holiday, as we were having a nice week up to that point.

Arrive around midnight. Greeted with friendly receptionist. The bar staff do a great job and keep your favourite drink flowing..always polite and a smile. The restaurant staff always happy to see us and have a smile on their faces. There is a wide choice of food all tasty and delicious. Every meal was fabulous. The entertainment staff work so hard, they do an amazing show in the evening. Malak always has a smile on his face and a friendly hello when ever you see him. Young Sam also a happy word to everyone when he sees them. Pekatiou ( sorry if I spelt it wrong) is good at rounding the guest up for the activities and dancing was brilliant that he did on the dance night along with Sam and Malak and the young lady ( sorry couldn't remember her name.) The maids too kept my room perfectly clean and she always had a smile on her face. A friendly smile and a good morning is always nice. The hotel is next to the marina and a nice walk to the shops and restaurants. We shall return again Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome Highly recommend

We was group of 7 people, exelent experinece, great vacation, good hotel, good food , excellent sea, beach was good...Staf was friendly, exempt on pool bar.. Staff on reception bar, and on reception was excellent. We have great vacation, rooms was clean.

everyone is very nice and helpful. the programs are also excellent and fun. food and drinks were both good. rooms are clean and everything is available: TV, hair dryer, refrigerator. I spent the best vacation of my life so far in this hotel..

If you go in with the mindset of not expecting European quality and standards you'll be fine for me it's perfectly acceptable. Didn't really suffer any real issues. Some of the existing bad reviews are harsh in my opinion, the hotel was clean and comfortable not a cockroach in sight. Animation team is excellent! (sami and pikachu) and staff generally excellent too. Only issue I had is having a real battle getting air conditioning fixed which took far too long (and fobbed off a few times) and was fixed by changing room. Food was just ok/bland however perfectly edible, the med restaurant which you can book once a week had excellently quality food (lasagne was great). Beach is nice, Location is very good 10 min walk to marina and leisure activities great. I heard a few people complain the hotel is anti English but I didn't experience any perhaps because my partner is not English.

Had a great experience at this hotel, lovely area to stay in. Amazing resort, good food and the entertainment staff always kept us laughing. Room was in good condition the whole time with good service. My favourite animator was sam as he always kept us busy and checked up on us with great evening and day activities keeping us in a great mood whilst away and was very helpful with any questions we had. very kind and polite staff.
