The Lebzelter is a traditional Austrian hotel with friendly staff and decent rooms. Breakfast was a nice selection of cold meats, cheese, breads and fruit. There were also boiled or scrambled eggs. The evening meal included a starter, salads, a choice of 3 main courses which you select at breakfast each day, a soup and a dessert. Plenty of food and choices to suit most people. The location is great, really central with the main square outside and plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within a minutes walk. It’s also really accessible for the lake, the train station and the bus station, so you can easily travel around the local area. The hotel and bar staff are really friendly and welcoming, I was travelling alone and they always looked after me. I really enjoyed my stay and have already booked to visit again in 2026 because there is so much to do in the local area, it’s impossible to squeeze it all into one week! The hotel also participates in the Zell am See Kaprun Summer Card scheme, which means you get lots of the ski lifts, trains, buses etc. for free, which is really a bonus and saves a lot of additional expense when exploring the area.

I have recently returned from my first stay at the Lebzelter and I loved every second of my stay. The hotel is in the heart of the pedestrianised area of Zell am See just a short walk from the train station and the local buses. The hotel is instantly recognisable by it's wonderful yellow facade. The staff, from reception to the cleaners, are extremely helpful and very friendly. I had booked the half board option. Please be aware that the hotel does not serve evening meals on Thursday nights...but you will get your breakfast everyday. There are fruit juices and hot drinks for breakfast. The food choices are typical of the Alpine regions...hams, cheeses, yoghurts etc. However, they also offer cereals as well as rolls and jams. At breakfast you are presented with a menu showing the choices for your evening meal. 1 of the choices is a vegetarian option. Every evening there is also soup, salads and desserts. My room was 202 on the 2nd floor. There is a small lift right beside the reception desk to take you to the upper floors. My room had a large wardrobe which contains a small safe. There was also a desk with a cupboard and a very comfortable sofa. The bed was very comfortable. My only issue with the room was the lack of air conditioning! The room got incredibly hot even with the window open. The bathroom was a hand basin, toilet and shower. Be careful when using the hot water as it can be cool one minute and extremely hot the next. The Lebzelter gives it's guests the Zell am See summer card which is brilliant! It allows you to use the local buses and trains, go out on boat trips on the beautiful lake and use of the gondolas to take you up to the mountains and the walking trails. I would highly recommend the Lebzelter to anyone wishing to visit Zell am See...it is an absolutely beautiful hotel.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fabulous quaint and charming super comfortable authentic Austrian hotel located in the heart of Zell am See. The friendliness and hospitality from all of the hotel, restaurant and bar staff was exceptional and they couldn’t do enough to give us a fantastic holiday. Our spacious comfortable and quiet single & double rooms, had comfortable beds, cosy thermostat controlled heating, sofa, desk, tv, good storage and lashings of hot water in the showers. Simple authentic charming Tyrollean style and just perfect for our needs. We opted for half-board and daily enjoyed simple yet delicious home-cooked typical 3-course Austrian dishes + salad buffet and hearty continental breakfast buffet with freshly scrambled eggs. The staff had only one night off in the week but the standard of service did not slip at all and it gave us the opportunity to experience a meal & drinks out on the town. The onsite meals, ski/boot storage cellar and parking meant that we could totally relax and unwind after a full day skiing on the nearby Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn glacier, any easy bus ride away. The hotel bar for Apres Ski is atmospheric yet cosy and a must! We enjoyed the company of a host of nationalities making friends and sharing ski stories and tips throughout the week. Wish we could have stayed longer at this charming gem of a hotel. We’ll be back! 🥰

A lovely authentic Austrian hotel situated in the centre of the town. Great location for the ski lift and postplatz for buses to Saalbach and Kaprun. The bedrooms are comfortable, the breakfasts reasonable and the hotel service very good, they also have a terrific bar.

Great hotel in the center close to the Postplaz bus stop. Very friendly hotel, with comfortable and very clean rooms. The food was very good, and we enjoyed selections at breakfast and evening meals with the correct portion sizes. Homemade soups and the salad buffet at dinner are delicious. Very friendly staff and highly recommended hotel.

Stayed here for a week with family in Jan ‘25. The hotel is a beautiful traditional Austrian style building, absolutely stunning, the location is right in the centre of the town, great for wandering the gorgeous streets, ski lift approx 7 minutes walk away. The hotel is family run and they were all very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, continental style breakfasts and 3 course evening meals which were all great. The bedrooms had loads of wardrobe space and were a decent size too, the beds were a bit too firm for me, the only downside I’d say was the showers which were very unpredictable, they ranged from freezing to boiling quite quickly so you had to be careful, we called them experience showers! 😆 I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.

Fantastic location in centre of town and main lifts to ski less than 3 minutes away. Was B & B and so many very good restaurants within easy reach to choose from. Room was spacious and spotless, cleaned every day with fresh towels.Warm and comfortable. Bathroom small and if you are 34 + waist you might struggle getting in/out shower via sliding door. Super wi-fi throughout hotel. No English channels on tv. If booking with Crystal no tourist tax to pay as its included with your booking. Ski room could do with a couple more benches but that's my only observation. Particularly liked the bar after a day on the slopes. Breakfast was very good but same cooked options every day - boiled or scrambled eggs.

We stayed here between the 28th December and the 4th January, half board. The hotel is very clean and the food is excellent. However, the choice is limited to 3 menu options each day. Usually an Austrian dish, an ‘international’ dish, and a vegetarian option. On one of the days, my daughters did not like any of the options, and so the chef prepared a simple pasta dish for their evening meal. It was delicious and obviously not from a jar! The deserts are simple but delicious, with ‘unlimited’ ice cream and cake. Also, many thanks to the waiting staff, particularly Boris who looked after our table wonderfully during our stay. Unfortunately, tap water with the evening meal is charged at 3 Euros. That is for each jug of water too! Although this is standard in Austria, I think charging per jug is taking it too far. The rooms are simple, clean, and very comfortable. We were on the third floor 309/310. The heating is often set too warm at night, but the radiators can easily be adjusted to suit. A good amount of storage space for clothes and ski-wear. The bathrooms are small and basic. One of the main reasons for knocking a point off the score in this review would be the shower. Trying to control and set the water temperature was impossible. Left running, it would fluctuate between freezing and boiling within seconds without adjusting the shower temperature at all. We did mention this to the hotel manager. She is aware of it and has had plumbers look at it, but it is still a big problem. Another point to note is that one of the main advertised features of the hotel, the basement bar, is closed. We did ask, and apparently the person who ran the bar had left, and there were no plans to open the bar this season. It’s a shame, because it was one of the main features that attracted us to book this hotel. Hopefully the bar will be open again next winter. It should be noted that the hotel does have a small bar at the front at street level. This bar is very nice, but small and fills up quickly in the evening. It would be nice if the hotel provided tea/coffee and cake on return after a day on the slopes. This is often provided by hotels in ski resorts, and such a simple gesture would make a big difference. Surprisingly, Hotel Lebzelter don’t do this. Hopefully, they will start to do this for its customers, it would make a big difference. The location of the hotel is very good, situated nicely near the centre of town, and close to the bus ‘station’ if you wish to travel to Kaprun or Saalbach to ski, or the 71 bus to the main Zell am See lifts. Also, not far from the City Central gondola lift. We do plan to return to the hotel, and a few small changes to the hotel would improve it so much and give it full marks.
