U.S. Route 66

U.S. Route 66, also known as the Will Rogers Highway or Main Street of America, was one of the original highways in the U.S. Highway System, established in 1926. The highway stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica State Beach in Los Angeles, crossing eight states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, covering a total length of approximately 2,400 miles. With the development of the Interstate Highway System, the road was officially decommissioned in 1985, and some sections have since been designated as National Scenic Byways. The scenery along the route is a defining feature of this highway. From the farmlands of Illinois to the hills of Missouri, from the plains of Oklahoma to the red deserts of Arizona, and finally to the Pacific coast of California, the road connects a multitude of small towns, motels, neon signs, and roadside diners that retain their mid-20th-century appearance. Many sections still feature original gas stations and unique shops. U.S. Route 66 has had a profound influence on American pop culture. John Steinbeck used the road as the backdrop for the westward migration in The Grapes of Wrath, earning it the nickname "The Mother Road." The Pixar animated film Cars also uses this highway as its setting.Custer County · 27.4 km from downtown

JeffersonNationalExpansionMemorialPark is a beautiful downtown park with a famous Louis Arch in the United States, known as the West Gate of St. Louis, Missouri. This is the tallest monument in the United States standing alone. The entire monument is 196 meters high, and it looks very thin from a distance, like a rainbow bridge connecting the ground to the sky, which is very spectacular. The memorial park is quite large. In addition to the tall monument, there is also a museum introducing the history of St. Louis and a movie about how to build this monument. There is an elevator to visit directly. You must go up to see far, far. St. Louis Arc Arch is in Missouri, and walking through it means entering the American West. When the United States was still a British colony, immigrants marched west, conquering remote areas and finding ways to make a living. St. Louis was the only way for these indomitable pioneers to go west. They have vividly called Saint-Louis the "gate to the west". The St. Louis Arc Arch was built in their honor.St. Louis · 1.2 km from downtown

Route 66 is an old, worn-out asphalt road, cracked in some sections with weeds sprouting from the gaps. Occasionally, an abandoned gas station stands by the roadside, its sign rusted but still standing, its pump covered in dust. Driving into a small town, the neon lights outside old restaurants don't work during the day, and old photos and broken guitars are displayed in the windows. Next to it, an old Chevrolet, rusted to its frame, sits there like a sculpture. There's hardly anyone around; the wind whistles through the road signs, creating a desolate atmosphere.

The most famous attraction in St. Louis, the landmark building, the Arch is 600 feet high, 192 meters, and can be seen from a distance. You can feel the science and grandeur of the building when you get close. It is said that it cost more than 2 billion US dollars. You can take a cable car to the top and overlook the city in the direction of the old courthouse. You can take the north side bridge to cross the Mississippi River, which is Illinois. You can see the Arch from the bridge or a platform opposite.

It was my first time to visit the forest park. It covers a large area. I only walked a small part of it in more than 2 hours. It was autumn, and the leaves were red, which was particularly beautiful against the blue sky! I visited the museum, but I could only understand the Asian part.

Children will think it's a playground, not a museum. It's not suitable for older people; there are climbing walls everywhere and eerie decorations. Parking next to the museum is expensive, at $10 per hour.
