Stayed here with daughter for the start of the Cumbria Way walk. Arrived by train and it's literally right outside the train station entrance.top marks for location
Twin room. Large bathroom with bath. Some may say room is dated. For price excellent .
Weatherspoons for food around the corner - less than a 10 mi s walk
Friendly staff filled our water bottles before we set off for our walk.
All in all met all our requirements.
Also for information it's dog friendly too.
For £50 for night (deal if booked train ticket through trip.com got discount on Hotels.

酒店在一家大型生活區工業區旁邊，記得旁邊是Tesco超市，步行可達。酒店的房間蠻大的，服務人員也很客氣，晚上安保措施不錯，會有門禁卡。總的來説自駕遊的朋友可以選擇。從那裡到温德米爾湖大概五十分鐘吧，開車子可以選擇。

We stayed in Carlisle for a couple of nights. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the station and close to the city centre. There were a lot of pubs and restaurants close by which was convenient. The hotel was clean and comfortable.

After climbing the scafell pike, we went straight to this hotel. The staffs were really kind especially to the old man. You can really see the passion in his work . The hotel was amazing because it’s clean and well maintained. They also have a restaurant so you don’t have to go outside to look for a food which is really inconvenient idea for those who are tired from climbing. I guess we tried to book for an uber eats, deliveroo etc but they don’t have it in that area. The food was great and they have a free breakfast as well.

Traditional city centre hotel, great location, excellent value (low season?). The young lady on reception duty, spotted my request for a quiet room , well done - stayed at a 4 star in Liverpool the night before and they didn't!
Young chap also on reception gave me a bit of the history of the place - thank you . Room was fine, old building so high ceiling, nothing flash but it had some character. The lounge is beautiful with original features.

GGästanvändareThe location is perfect, right next to the train station and it's very easy to spot the entrance. The cleanliness is definitely a work in progress. The key areas were very clean, such as the bed, the wardrobe etc. However there was dust on small things like the towel holders, behind the cupboards etc. (The only reason I checked was because my allergies were acting up but only in the room). A few cobwebs in the room that you only really notice when you're just relaxing. The bathroom was clean but in the grouting there was mould in there, so it needs sorting. The beds are uncomfortable, they're really hard on your back and both me and my partner have left with sore backs after staying, I booked a double bed and it's two single beds pushed together which would be fine if the mattresses weren't so firm. The reception staff both over the weekend and weekdays were so lovely, very friendly and welcoming and i can't fault them whatsoever. The team that refreshes the room were also lovely, very accommodating and friendly, they topped everything up in the room fast without asking and were also great. The night porter unfortunately needs an attitude adjustment, his tone and the way he speaks to you just isn't okay. Having a lovely day and coming back to the night porter being rude wasn't pleasant. All in all a lovely stay with only a few minor complaints.

GGästanvändareI have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

AAnonym användareI stayed for two nights. The service was great and the food was delicious, which made the stay enjoyable. The room was neat and tidy; however, there was quite a bit of noticeable wear and tear. In the restaurant there was also a leak coming from the ceiling at one corner, so the place could benefit from some investment and maintenance. Overall, the staff and dining experience were highlights of the stay.

GGästanvändareI arrived on a stormy night in the lake district - on entering the hotel I was met with a warm glow from the log fire and a very warm welcome from the receptionist.
As the hotel dining room was about to close, a room was sorted and the kitchen kept open for an evening meal - a delicious melt in the mouth steak was a pleasure after a 6 hour
drive from the south of england, washed down with a welcome glass of Shiraz.
The bed was very comfortable, the room had a large bath and separate shower cubicle and copious hot water.
The decor and fittings were in sympathy with the age and history of the hotel, a pleasant change from the blandness of more modern mass market hotels.
The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to be assisted without having to use automated impersonal systems.
I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when I am next in the area.

PPriyanka BajirajThe property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore.
Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair.
Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well.

Whilst, having a timeless aspect ,magnificent historic building it has modern features, and aspects,that make it very comfortable.
The best hotel experience, I have had for year's, I am looking forward to staying again, a perfect end to my
Christmas break.

killed 5 flees in my bed not a clean place .
On the plus side the food . evening meal was good breakfast was fab …. Entertainment was good. Bar was busy people dancing throughout the night every one enjoying their self’s

GGästanvändareThe hotel I was originally booked in had a flood so at the last minute I had to find another one, I found Arkale lodge and it didn’t disappoint, the rooms are pretty basic, but extremely clean which in my book is more important than a fancy room. And certainly good enough for the price I paid, the gentleman that showed me around was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was from 7 which was perfect for my continuation of my Hadrians wall walk.
The Breakfast was included in the room price and was exceptional (full English, which I easily adapted as a non meat eater)
It was plentiful, delicious and freshly made. And a great start to my long tiring day
