Authentic experience, just what we were looking for! The place was traditional and felt real. Toilets were good, as were the showers, all amenities were fine. I was a little apprehensive about the self check in but it was really easy and straight forwards. Japanese rice porridge was included and a nice touch. Overall, the stay was perfect, exactly what we wanted.

This is the worst accommodation experience I’ve had during my trips to Japan. In the past, my visits to Japan have always been perfect—truly a paradise for travelers from around the world. However, lately, I’ve noticed a surge of Indian people in places like convenience stores and hotel front desks, which has led to some negative experiences for me along the way. I usually brushed them off as minor, but this hotel stay was unacceptable and I have to speak up. At check-in, the Indian front desk staff was indifferent and dismissive, which already set a bad tone. Then, when I went to bed around midnight, I discovered that the room only had two flat bedsheets—no duvet cover (comforter cover) and no pillowcases at all. It was very late, so I didn’t want to disturb anyone by calling reception again, and I ended up sleeping uncomfortably without proper bedding—yet another hassle caused by the Indian staff. If the hotel management sees this review, please seriously reconsider hiring Indian staff. They are ruining Japan’s reputation and its world-famous service industry! I hope this feedback helps improve things for future guests.

1. The price is cheap, but the location is good. 2. There was a musty smell as soon as we entered. Even though it was new in 2025, it's probably because the house hasn't been properly renovated. 3. There are no slippers in the shoe-off area. 4. There is no disinfectant liquid in the restroom, and everyone has to share a pair of slippers when taking off shoes. 5. There is only one towel for the floor mat when entering the bathroom. It's not changed for each person, and there is no diatomaceous earth mat either. 6. The non-stick coating of the pot in the kitchen has peeled off. 7. The paint on a pair of chopsticks is chipped and peeling. 8. It looks like only one sponge is used for washing dishes & kitchen sink (since there's only one sponge available).

Aromatherapy stay. Just lovely. I’ve and close to attractions and one of the best locations in Kyoto. Rooms are bright, extremely clean, love the smells of essential oils. Shops and food close close by. Great place and affordable.

Pros - Good Location near the Kyoto train station and aeon mall. - Free breakfast with delicious food. - Although I left personal belongings after checkout, the manager(owner) is polite and help me to open the door. - Room is clean, big and easy to sleep. - Have all necessaries including TV, towels... etc Cons - cannot leave luggages after checkout

The house in general is very nice, looks like typical Japanese old building. It’s quite cosy and not far from the train station. There was cleaning everyday. But the was some smudges and dirt on the walls and on the ceiling (I think it’s because the building is quite old). And we had extra pay for some things in the hostel. Anyway I give 5 stars because the price was cheap. For this price it’s a good place to stay

Super séjour dans cet hôtel très bien situé dans kyoto. La chambre est vraiment propre et confortable. L accueil est très professionnel et le personnel très accueillant.

FUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate. FUGA STAYは、その名の通り「風雅」で、賑やかな場所の中にありながらも静かで、控えめで上品な空間です。 大通りに面していないホテルが好きな私にとって、ここは理想的な立地です。徒歩3〜5分で大宮駅や京都市内の多数のバス停にアクセスできます。 自転車や電動キックボードが好きな方には、目の前にLuupのステーションがあってとても便利です。 部屋は広く、一人で泊まってもとても快適です。ダブルベッドが2台あり、自分で簡単に動かして、特大キングサイズベッドのように使うことができます。トイレも広々としていて、窮屈さは感じません。 フロントでは日本語と中国語（漢語）が通じるので、安心して滞在できます。 正直、あまり褒めすぎたくないです…人気が出て値上がりしそうで（笑） P.S. すぐ近くの路地に「天道神社」があり、徒歩2分ほどです。素敵なご縁を感じました。 FUGA STAY，如同其名字「風雅」一般，是一處鬧中取靜、低調而優雅的住宿空間。 我特別喜歡這種不在主幹道上、卻又交通便利的飯店——步行3到5分鐘即可抵達地鐵大宮站與眾多京都市巴士站點。 如果你喜歡騎單車或滑板車，門口就有Luup的租借點，非常方便。 房間空間寬敞，一個人住起來非常舒適，因為配置了兩張雙人床（可以輕鬆地自行移動，變成超級大king size）；廁所空間也很大，毫無壓迫感。 前台服務人員通曉日語與漢語，溝通無障礙。 說真的，我不太想過度讚美FUGA，因為怕太多人知道之後價格會上漲（笑） P.S. 小巷轉角就有一間「天道神社」，走路約2分鐘，非常有緣。

Det här hotellet är riktigt bra och väldigt, väldigt rent. Grejen är att jag bokade hotellet under Golden Week, så det blev trångt, men jag hade ändå en trevlig vistelse. Kyoto station ligger inom 5 minuters promenad. Köket och de allmänna utrymmena är riktigt bra och trevliga, plus att det finns en takterrass där man kan se den omgivande gatan ovanifrån. Saker som jag tycker kan förbättras är att det borde finnas mer utrymme i hytten för väskor och saker, belysningen inne i hytten var för stark och ojusterbar. Men överlag ett fantastiskt vandrarhem med bra service, boende och läge. Jag vill verkligen bo här igen om jag någonsin besöker Kyoto igen. Men kanske blir det en uppgradering till ett enkelrum, hehe.

Mama & Papa are the kindest hosts ever! They made the trip in Japan so much worthwhile! It is one of the best hostels I've stayed in mostly because of Mama & Papa! They really make you feel at home, and you get to experience the whole Japanese culture :)). Lovely! Definitely recommend and will for sure stay with them again when I'm in Kyoto! Cheers to you both 😃
