This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

I loved this place. My first and only time in Fujian, and it was excellent. The staff were great, just fantastic, really. The breakfast was impressive- cappucino coffee available, and a huge variety of delicious foods, including congee, baked goods, noodles, soups, fruit, fish, meat and many vegetables. The room was very well arranged and modern.. Roasted tea smell in the corridorThe location can't be beat, basically in the most central of locations. Local bus we took was 1RMB! I had some great food nearby, too.

We were there for a 2 night stay. Generally the accommodation was decent, the room and environment was clean. Last but not least, particularly Miss 柳 was very helpful during our stay. After knowing what we wanted, she directed us where to go. We thanks Miss 柳，she really makes our stay felt interesting and always make our day. For those who like food, 美食街is the right place. And staying in this hotel is recommended.

The hotel is pretty new. The room is clean and they provided the toiletries. There is housekeeping daily to clean the room but they did not make the bed. The room is equipped with smart appliance that works with voice commands to Xiao Du. There is a laundry area and guest can access to it with free of charge. However, few of the room that we booked, has problem with the flooring. The hotel quickly changed us for a new room when we complaint about the flooring that caused hazard. The breakfast is similar everyday with little choice. The hotel is at level three of the shopping mall. There is a lot of eatery shop nearby with a convenience shop opposite the hotel. In short, the location is very strategic and can access to all shops (e.g. pharmacy, lucking coffee, bread shop, milk tea shop, eatery street, and etc) at walking distance.

My recent stay at the Kulangsi Resort in Xiamen was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was a special place dedicated to providing a tranquil and luxurious getaway. It feels like a hidden oasis away from the city's hustle and bustle, yet it remains conveniently located. The views are stunning, and the overall atmosphere is one of peace and relaxation. It's an ideal spot for both couples and families looking to unwind. Excellent Hotel Facilities: The facilities are top-notch. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and featured a modern design with all the amenities one could ask for. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Beyond the room, the swimming pool was a delight, and the fitness center was well-equipped. Every corner of the resort is maintained to a very high standard. Standout Service from 小陈 (Xiao Chen): While every staff member we encountered was professional and friendly, one individual truly made our stay unforgettable: a gentleman named 小陈 (Xiao Chen). His service was, without exaggeration, world-class. He was incredibly thoughtful and anticipatory, always seeming to know what we needed before we even asked. From offering insightful local tips to ensuring every small detail of our room was perfect, his attention to care was remarkable. He embodies the true spirit of hospitality and is a tremendous asset to the Kulangsi Resort. Verdict: I wholeheartedly recommend the Kulangsi Resort. The beautiful environment and excellent facilities provide the perfect backdrop, but it's the outstanding service from people like Xiao Chen that transforms a great stay into a truly memorable one. I had a very enjoyable stay at Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel (Fuzhou Three Lanes and Seven Alleys East Street). You can take DongJieKou Metro Exit B, after exit must turn left and walk less than 50 meter to the hotel lobby. The hotel is ideally located, just a short walk from the famous Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, making it extremely convenient for sightseeing, shopping, and experiencing local culture and food. The room was huge, clean, modern, and comfortable, with tasteful décor and good soundproofing. The bed was comfortable, and the room was well equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Housekeeping maintained the room very well throughout my stay. The hotel staff were professional, friendly, and attentive. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and staff were always willing to assist with directions or requests. There was a young female receptionist on duty when I checked in on 5 January 2026 around noon. I remember her name ending with “Na”, and I sincerely apologise that I am unable to recall her full name. I was extremely impressed by her professionalism, service attitude, and friendliness. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for her exceptional assistance. On the following morning, my electric shaver malfunctioned, and I had no idea where to purchase the same model and design. She kindly assisted me by placing an order through the ******* app, and the shaver was delivered to the hotel reception in less than an hour, resolving my problem very quickly. I was truly impressed by her initiative and the extra level of service she provided. Thank you very much for her kind help. The breakfast provided at 4th floor restaurent is also vaule for money. It provide combination of eastern and western food. The only suggestion I would like to share is that I sincerely hope the hotel management can consider replacing the carpet along the corridor leading to the rooms in the near future. The current light-coloured carpet shows dirt very easily and tends to look unsightly despite regular cleaning. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money with its strategic location, comfortable rooms, and reliable service. I would highly recommend Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel to anyone visiting Fuzhou and would gladly stay here again.

The hotel is at a good location but not the hotel cos almost all the didi don’t come in to this alley and not aware of this hotel Hotel is very pretty and room is very nice There’s a free pickup from the train station which is very nice and plus point for the hotel However the staff needs more training in terms of their services and professionalism. Their standard is obviously not at the hotel’s level. When I reach on the first day, the young lady and gentleman that assist us with the check in is nice and friendly. However after that it’s always an older plump lady that is at the front desk during the day and her attitude doesn’t makes me comfortable. I was writing something to pass to her and she keep rush me to be faster and the way she talks makes me feels as if I’m at a market instead of hotel. And also the aunty that manned the laundry area. When I was washing my clothes around 3-4pm, she said I occupied both laundry pod and other ppl can’t wash it. I told her nicely that I will come and take out the cloth on time. I mean there’s so many ppl that leave their clothes in the laundry and dryer pod after clean and dried for hours or overnight. Doesn’t that occupied the pod as well and others cant use it? Then she still continues to nag and said me about using both pod. Once again I told her nicely the same statement. Then she continues again and keep repeating the same thing to me over and over again and I snap back at her only she stop. What’s wrong with her? There’s a saying 给你脸 你还蹬鼻子上脸了？以为我很好欺负吗？Please give more training to both of the staff so they don’t ruined the reputation of your hotel. And there’s a staff that told me to pay for the lost card. I misplaced a card before with other hotel and never been told to pay for it. They just simply void the card. It’s only 10-20 rmb which is not a lot tho but it really ruins my impression for this hotel. I mean this hotel is very pretty and I would love to stay there again if I’m visiting Lonyan again but with this kind of staff around, I will think twice before deciding my stay next time. I stayed Wanda and Fliport Hotel in Lonyan before and the price for these 3 hotels doesn’t difference much but their staff definitely handle customer with more professionalism and better attitude

We stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags. The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required. Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100. The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old. When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage. The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy. The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening. The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day. There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu. The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse. The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.

The hotel’s location is perfect, offering easy access to nearby attractions. The staff also kindly gave me breakfast coupons. The breakfast was delicious and vairous. They change the menu everyday and provide the specialties of Xiamen. Overall, my experience was nothing short of outstanding, and I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Xiamen. Highly recommend!!!
