Zancheng Hotel (Hangzhou Xihu Boulevard)

We booked an executive double room and a standard double room. Whilst the price was higher for the executive room both the rooms were exactly the same. The first room we were given on the 10th floor was so dirty that we were moved to another room on the 15th floor. This was really dirty too. There was food on the floor, dirt around the edges of the carpet, along the bed head, the tops of the lamps and a toe nail on the carpet. The house staff were sent to vacuum the room. The shower leaked and was mouldy inside, a large plastic bit from the shower door was broken off and on the floor. This is meant to be a 4 star hotel. Yes. There were umbrellas in the room and a shoe horn and clothes brush. It's dirty, the air conditioning didn't work properly. The room did not cool below 21 degrees. The loo roll was cheap and thin. Everything about this hotel was really shabby and dated. There was a complimentary note pad which only had 2 pages. The beds were a good size and comfortable. There was a small fridge (empty) and kettle in the room with tea provided. We were given 2 small bottles of water. The location was good. Plenty of local restaurants and bars very near. A great spa across the road and close to the shopping malls. Hangzhou is an amazing and fun city. Next time I visit I will definitely stay in a different hotel.

Really comfortable, clean and complete room. Nice and kind, professional staff. Hotel situated less than 10 minutes walking from the subway station.

staff nice enough and helpful. staff gets 5 stars. breakfast was ok. what i disliked was the smell. i booked non smoking. the first room reeled like an ashtray. they immediately changed it. the new room seemed pk, only after i sat down i. one of the chairs that i smelt smoke on the furniture again hours later it was uncomfortable to smell, but bearable for only 2 nights. but seriously needs some airing out or some more definite distinction between smoker and non smoker
