Twa Hotel at JFK Airport

We stayed one night because we had an early flight the next morning and this hotel is conveniently located to terminal 5 at JFK airport. This was the third time we have stayed at the hotel. The TWA theme is great and the rooms are fine for short stays. I did notice this time that the hotel is showing some wear and tear, but our room was clean. The highlight of this hotel is the rooftop bar where you can view airplanes and enjoy drinks and food. The food is fine, but the viewing is great! There is also a rooftop pool that charges a fee to swim in the summer. Overall, this is a great hotel to stay at if flying out of JFK and you want to maximize rest and convenience to terminal 5 before your flight!

An unexpected layover at JFK gave us an opportunity to check out this famous building. The conversion to a hotel from an airport terminal is brilliantly executed. You can appreciate the flowing curvaceous lines of the structure and it functions as a hotel. That must’ve been challenging. There are a lot of 60s nostalgia environments to select from. Classic cars, typewriter, payphones, a beauty parlor, and other scenes are great for those Instagram moments. Food options were good. We loved our breakfast and the sandwiches that we had for lunch. Were fine, too. If you have a long layover in JFK, this is a fun place to stay and very few airport hotels can say that. I would like to take a moment to thank the front desktop that greatly facilitated our visit If you’re a fan of mid-century, this place is a must, if you’re looking for the ultimate bargain, it might not be your choice.

The building is of course spectacular, but the service as a hotel and restaurant was less than average quality

This place is truly one of a kind. It's incredible that a building designed 65 years ago could still look so futuristic. Yet, the early 60's theme feels amazingly genuine. It's located on airport property, so it's super convenient for travelers. You can walk directly from the hotel to the JetBlue terminal, and there's a convenient, free AirTrain that connects to all the other terminals. My wife and I enjoy taking trips with another couple from church. I'm the only real aviation enthusiast in the group. My friend from church can't distinguish a CRJ-900 from a 787, but when she first saw the room and the astounding close up view of the airport activity, her face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. So no, you don't have to be an aviation enthusiast to enjoy staying here (but it helps). I live in a part of the country that has a significantly lower cost of living than that found in New York City. So honestly, I found the prices for everything rather steep, but this is such an amazing experience, I'd gladly pay it again some time in the future. We found that the "food court" in the hotel was really more of a "snack court" and had to go back into the airport to find food. Yes there is a full service restaurant in the hotel, but it's a premium place charging premium prices, so we decided to look for other options. The rooms aren't exactly spacious, but they're clean, comfortable and quiet--even with all that jet traffic literally just a few yards away. You pay a premium for a room with a runway view, but it's well worth it. If you've never been here, this is truly a bucket list item.

I have never been to a worse hotel. For $830 for a night’s stay, you get an empty mini bar, no bottled water, no bathroom amenities and no room service. I was even required to check myself in and print my own key card. The only thing they have going for them is they have a captive audience of poor souls whose flights were canceled, or airline crews. Do not spend your hard earned money on this dump. I have been totally ripped off. Sad part is you don’t know you’re being ripped off until after you check in and see what you get for your money.

I would’ve preferred a room without the long desk that took up too much room, and there was no place to sit and relax
